The daily Hukamnama sahib from Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar including Punjabi and English translation audio ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਮੁਹ ਫਿਰੇ ਸੇ ਬਧੇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਾਹਿ ॥ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਿਲਣੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਨੀ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਤੈ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ ਸਹਸਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਛੋਡਈ ਦੁਖ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਹਿ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਬਖਸਿ ਲੇਹਿ ਸਬਦੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਅਰਥ: ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਲੋਂ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹਨ, ਉਹ (ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ) ਬੱਧੇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਦੇ ਤੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ; ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਦਾ, ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ-ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਲਏ ਤਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੧। ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮੁਹ ਫਿਰੇ ਤਿਨਾ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਠਾਉ ॥ ਜਿਉ ਛੁਟੜਿ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਫਿਰੈ ਦੁਹਚਾਰਣਿ ਬਦਨਾਉ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬਖਸੀਅਹਿ ਸੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਉ ॥੨॥ ਅਰਥ: ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਹ ਥਾਂ ਨਾਹ ਥਿੱਤਾ; ਉਹ ਵਿਭ-ਚਾਰਨ ਛੁੱਟੜ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਘਰ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਬਦਨਾਮ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੨। ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਜੋ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਤਿ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ਸੇ ਭਵਜਲ ਤਰਿ ਗਇਆ ॥ ਜੋ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ਤਿਨ ਜਮੁ ਛਡਿ ਗਇਆ ॥ ਸੇ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਧੇ ਜਾਹਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਲਇਆ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇਈ ਪੁਰਖ ਜਿਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਮਇਆ ॥ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਿਤ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭਉ ਗਇਆ ॥੭॥  ਅਰਥ: ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੱਚੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੇਂਵਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਮ ਛੱਡ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ; ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਸਨਮਾਨੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ; (ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਭਰਮ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾਂ।੭।  SHALOK THIRD MEHL:  Those who turn their faces away from the True Guru, suffer in sorrow and bondage. Again and again, they are born only to die; they cannot meet their Lord. The disease of doubt does not depart, and they find only pain and more pain. O Nanak, if the Gracious Lord forgives, then one is united in Union with the Word of the Shabad. || 1 || THIRD MEHL: Those who turn their faces away from the True Guru, shall find no place of rest or shelter. They wander around from door to door, like a woman forsaken, with a bad character and a bad reputation. O Nanak, the Gurmukhs are forgiven, and united in Union with the True Guru. || 2 || PAUREE: Those who serve the True Lord, the Destroyer of ego, cross over the terrifying world-ocean. Those who chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, are passed over by the Messenger of Death. Those who meditate on the Lord, go to His Court in robes of honor. They alone serve You, O Lord, whom You bless with Grace.  ਰਾਗੁ ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੩    ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ਮਿਥਨ ਮੋਹ ਅਗਨਿ ਸੋਕ ਸਾਗਰ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਉਧਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਗਰ ॥੧॥ ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਸਰਣਾਇ ਨਰਾਇਣ ॥ ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥ ਭਗਤ ਪਰਾਇਣ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਅਨਾਥਾ ਨਾਥ ਭਗਤ ਭੈ ਮੇਟਨ ॥ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਮਦੂਤ ਨ ਭੇਟਨ ॥੨॥ ਜੀਵਨ ਰੂਪ ਅਨੂਪ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥ ਰਵਣ ਗੁਣਾ ਕਟੀਐ ਜਮ ਜਾਲਾ ॥੩॥ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਨ ਨਿਤ ਜਾਪੈ ॥ ਰੋਗ ਰੂਪ ਮਾਇਆ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥੪॥ ਜਪਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸੰਗੀ ਸਭਿ ਤਾਰੇ ॥ ਪੋਹਤ ਨਾਹੀ ਪੰਚ ਬਟਵਾਰੇ ॥੫॥ ਮਨ ਬਚ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥ ਸਰਬ ਫਲਾ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੬॥ ਧਾਰਿ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਨਾ ॥ ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਰਸੁ ਦੀਨਾ ॥੭॥ ਆਦਿ ਮਧਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੮॥੧॥੨॥

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਦੇ ਖਸਮ! ਹੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ! ਹੇ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ! ਅਸੀ ਜੀਵ) ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ (ਸਾਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਈ ਰੱਖ) ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਹਰੀ! ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ; ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ, ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਸਾਨੂੰ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈ।੧।

ਹੇ ਨਿਆਸਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ! ਹੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਜਮਦੂਤ (ਭੀ) ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦੇ (ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ) ।੨।

ਹੇ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਸੋਮੇ! ਹੇ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਘਰ! ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼) , ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਕੱਟੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੩।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਇਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ, ਜੇਹੜੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ।੪।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਾਮਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਪੰਜੇ ਲੁਟੇਰੇ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਦਬਾਉ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ।੫।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨਾਲ, ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੬।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਦਿੱਤਾ।੭।

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਭੀ ਹੈ, ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਰਗਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।੮।੧।੨।

In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the Messenger of Death cannot even touch them. || 2 || The Merciful, Incomparably Beautiful, Embodiment of Life. ਰਾਮ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਭਇਆ ਅਨੰਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਨੀਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਨਾਇ ॥ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਈ ਸਭ ਨੀਕਲਿ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਾਮ ਜਨ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਬੋਲਾਇ ॥ ਜੋ ਜੋ ਸੁਣੈ ਕਹੈ ਸੋ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਰਾਮ ਜਪਤ ਸੋਹਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਜੇ ਵਡ ਭਾਗ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਜਨਾ ਭੇਟਾਇ ॥ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸੰਤ ਦੇਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸਭੁ ਦਾਲਦੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਲੋਗ ਰਾਮ ਜਨ ਨੀਕੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਨ ਸੁਖਾਇ ॥ ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਰਾਮ ਕਹਹਿ ਜਨ ਊਚੇ ਨਰ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਡੰਸੁ ਲਗਾਇ ॥੩॥ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਨਰ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਜਿਨ ਜਨ ਨਹੀ ਭਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸਖਾ ਸਖਾਇ ॥ ਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚੋਰ ਵੇਮੁਖ ਮੁਖ ਕਾਲੇ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਨ ਭਾਇ ॥੪॥ ਦਇਆ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਹਮ ਦੀਨ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥ ਹਮ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਤੁਮ ਪਿਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੫॥੨॥

ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ । (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਾ ਕੇ (ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ) । ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ) ਅਕਲ ਸਿੱਖ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਭੈੜੀ ਮਤਿ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ-ਜਨੋ! (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਲਈ ਮਦਦ ਕਰੋ । ਜੇਹੜਾ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਾਂ) ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਤੋਂ) ਸੁਤੰਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਣ, ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼, (ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਸਾਰਾ ਦਰਿੱਦਰ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ (ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ) ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਮੰਦ-ਭਾਗੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ) ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ । ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਉਂ ਤਿਉਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣਦੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਇਉਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਡੰਗ ਵੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਿੰਦਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ (ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ) ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਚੰਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੇ । ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ (ਹੁੰਦੀ) ਪਸੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਲੋਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਮੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਭੀ ਚੋਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਮੂੰਹ ਦੇਣ-ਜੋਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ, ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਉਹ ਭ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੪।ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀ ਗਰੀਬ (ਜੀਵ) ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ, ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ) ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖੀ ਰੱਖੋ । ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੈਂ, ਅਸੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਹਾਂ । ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਤੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖ ।੫।੨।

RAAMKALEE, FOURTH MEHL:

Meeting with the humble servants of the Lord, I am in ecstasy; they preach the sublime sermon of the Lord. The filth of evil-mindedness is totally washed away; joining the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, one is blessed with understanding. || 1 || O humble servant of the Lord, follow the Gurus Teachings, and chant the Name of the Lord. Whoever hears and speaks it is liberated; chanting the Lords Name, one is embellished with beauty. || 1 || Pause || If someone has supremely high destiny written on his forehead, the Lord leads him to meet the humble servants of the Lord. Be merciful, and grant me the Blessed Vision of the Saints Darshan, which shall rid me of all poverty and pain. || 2 || The Lords people are good and sublime; the unfortunate ones do not like them at all. The more the Lords exalted servants speak of Him, the more the slanderers attack and sting them. || 3 || Cursed, cursed are the slanderers who do not like the humble, the friends and companions of the Lord. Those who do not like the honor and glory of the Guru are faithless, black-faced thieves, who have turned their backs on the Lord. || 4 || Have mercy, have mercy, please save me, Dear Lord. I am meek and humble I seek Your protection. I am Your child, and You are my father, God. Please forgive servant Nanak and merge him with Yourself. || 5 || 2 ||

Hey brother! Guru Gobind is (the form of), Guru Gopal is (the form of), who is able to save his servant (from condemnation etc.). 1. Stay. Hey brother! By always bowing your head before the whole Satguru, his darshan fulfills your life-desire, your life becomes successful. Hey brother! Guru remains colored in the color of the name of the Lord who is the knower of everyone's heart, who is universal in all and who is the creator of all. 1.

Hey brother! The Guru instills the love of God in the human beings, they become kings, kings and rich people in the spiritual world. He makes the wicked go astray by wrongdoing the proud. In the mouth of a man who condemns (a servant), the disease (of condemnation) becomes itself, the whole world always praises (that man) (who lies under the shelter of the Guru). 2.

Hey brother! Those people who remain under the shelter of the Guru, the saints have great spiritual joy in their minds, the saints keep the Guru, the Lord, in their hearts. The mouths of the servants who stay with the Guru (in the Hereafter) become bright, but the people who criticize (the Hereafter) are all lost. 3.

Hey brother! A devotee who takes shelter of the Guru continues to praise God and the unfathomable Guru with every breath he takes. Hey brother! To whom all fear and pity are removed, he casts the people who slander the Guru's servants (from his rank) into the pit of low conduct (ie, the slanderers do not like the Guru's rank. The conclusion is that they fall into condemnation after missing the Guru-dar, and they become lower and lower in conduct. 4.

Therefore, O brother!) no human being should condemn the servant of the Guru. Whoever condemns (the good), he himself remains miserable. The Guru's servant always keeps his attention on one God, even Jama-Raj does not come close to him. 5. Hey brother! The servants of the Guru do not hold enmity with anyone, but the people who condemn them are steeped in ego. Servants ask for the good of all, condemning people remain trapped in the misdeeds of their evil Chitwan.

Hey brother! The Guru's Sikh has always placed his head at his Guru's (feet). (For this reason) the servants escape (from the hell of condemnation etc.), but the slanderers keep (themselves in this) hell. 6. O my lord! O dear friend! Hear (I tell you the) immutable rules (which) happen (always) at the rate of God. (Those immutable rules are that) according to the deeds a person does, he gets the fruits. The root of an egoistic man will surely (grow). 7.

Hey Satguru! Desperate men have only you as their refuge. You keep the lodge of your servants by mercy. O Nanak! Say-I go to that Guru for whose sake Ot Chitaran kept my respect (and saved me from censure etc.). 8.1.29. Note: This is the same Astapadi, but with the word 'astapadia' (plural) in the title.

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ (ਦਾ ਰੂਪ) ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਪਾਲ (ਦਾ ਰੂਪ) ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ (ਨਿੰਦਾ ਆਦਿਕ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਣ-ਜੋਗਾ ਹੈ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਇਆ ਕਰ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੰਡਲ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਤੇ ਅਮੀਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਦੁਰਕਾਰ ਕੇ ਦਰ ਦਰ ਭਟਕਣ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੇ ਪਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ) ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ (ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ) ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ (ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ) ਸਦਾ ਸੋਭਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬੜਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ) ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਥਾਂ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੩।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਸੇਵਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਬੇ-ਮੁਥਾਜ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ-ਸਹਿਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਦੁਰਕਾਰ ਕੇ ਨੀਵੇਂ ਆਚਰਨ ਦੇ ਟੋਏ ਵਿਚ ਸੁੱਟ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਨਿੰਦਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰ ਪਸੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ। ਸਿੱਟਾ ਇਹ ਨਿਕਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ-ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਆਚਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਰ ਨੀਵੇਂ ਹੋਰ ਨੀਵੇਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੪।

(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਨੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ। ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਭਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ) ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਤਾਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਮ-ਰਾਜ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦਾ।੫।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦੇ, ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸੇਵਕ ਤਾਂ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਭਲਾ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੰਦਾ ਚਿਤਵਨ ਦੇ ਕੁਕਰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਨੇ ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ (ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ) ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਸੇਵਕ ਤਾਂ (ਨਿੰਦਾ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇ ਨਰਕ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਨਿੰਦਕ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ) ਨਰਕ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ।੬।

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੱਜਣ! ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਸੁਣ (ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ) ਅਟੱਲ ਨਿਯਮ (ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਵਾਪਰਦੇ ਹਨ। (ਉਹ ਅਟੱਲ ਨਿਯਮ ਇਹ ਹਨ ਕਿ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਫਲ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜੜ੍ਹ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ (ਵੱਢੀ) ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੭।

ਹੇ wwਸਤਿਗੁਰੂw! ਨਿਆਸਰੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ। ਤੂੰ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਲਾਜ ਆਪ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਚਿਤਾਰਨ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ਲਈ (ਤੇ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਆਦਿਕ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ) ।੮।੧।੨੯।

ਨੋਟ: ਇਹ ਇੱਕੋ ਹੀ ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸਿਰਲੇਖ ਵਿਚ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਅਸਟਪਦੀਆ' (ਬਹੁ-ਵਚਨ) ਦਰਜ ਹੈ।

Serve your Guru forever, and chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. With each and every breath, worship the Lord, Har, Har, in adoration, and the anxiety of your mind will be dispelled. || 1 || O my mind, chant the Name of God. You shall be blessed with peace, poise and pleasure, and you shall find the immaculate place. || 1 || Pause || In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, redeem your mind, and and adore the Lord, twenty-four hours a day. Sexual desire, anger and egotism will be dispelled, and all troubles shall end. || 2 || The Lord Master is immovable, immortal and inscrutable; seek His Sanctuary. Worship in adoration the lotus feet of the Lord in your heart, and center your consciousness lovingly on Him alone. || 3 || The Supreme Lord God has shown mercy to me, and He Himself has forgiven me. The Lord has given me His Name, the treasure of peace; O Nanak, meditate on that God. || 4 || 2 || 28 ||

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹੁ (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਸੁਖ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ, ਅਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਥਾਂ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹੇਗਾ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸੁੱਚਾ ਰੱਖ ਸਕੇ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ, ਆਪਣੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ, ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗੀ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਸ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਈ ਰੱਖ, ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ, (ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ, ਤੇਰਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹੁ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਭੇਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖ।੩।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਲਿਆ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਪਾਪ ਖਿਮਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ।੪।੨।੨੮।

 ਗੂਜਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਮਤਾ ਕਰੈ ਪਛਮ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ਪੂਰਬ ਹੀ ਲੈ ਜਾਤ ॥ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਨਹਾਰਾ ਆਪਨ ਹਾਥਿ ਮਤਾਤ ॥੧॥ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਕਾਹੂ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਤ ॥ ਜੋ ਅਨਰੂਪਿਓ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੀ ਉਹ ਬਾਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਦੇਸੁ ਕਮਾਵਨ ਧਨ ਜੋਰਨ ਕੀ ਮਨਸਾ ਬੀਚੇ ਨਿਕਸੇ ਸਾਸ ॥ ਲਸਕਰ ਨੇਬ ਖਵਾਸ ਸਭ ਤਿਆਗੇ ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਊਠਿ ਸਿਧਾਸ ॥੨॥ ਹੋਇ ਅਨੰਨਿ ਮਨਹਠ ਕੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਤਾ ਆਪਸ ਕਉ ਜਾਨਾਤ ॥ ਜੋ ਅਨਿੰਦੁ ਨਿੰਦੁ ਕਰਿ ਛੋਡਿਓ ਸੋਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਖਾਤ ॥੩॥ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਭਏ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਕਾਟੀ ਫਾਸ ॥ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਗਿਰਸਤ ਉਦਾਸ ॥੪॥੪॥੫॥

ਅਰਥ: (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ) ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ। ਜੋ ਗੱਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਨੇ ਮਿਥੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।1। ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੱਛਮ ਵਲ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਲੈ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਹਰੇਕ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।1।

(ਵੇਖ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਹੋਰ ਦੇਸ ਮੱਲਣ ਤੇ ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਲਾਲਸਾ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਨਿਕਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਫ਼ੌਜਾਂ ਅਹਿਲਕਾਰ ਚੋਬਦਾਰ ਆਦਿਕ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਲ ਤੁਰ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਧਰੀ ਦੀ ਧਰੀ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ)।2।

(ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਵੇਖੋ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਾਲ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਛੱਡ ਚੁਕਾ ਹੈ) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਹਠ ਦੀ ਪਕਿਆਈ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਾਸਾ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ (ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੜਾ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਕੰਮ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡਾ ਜਤਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤ ਨਿੰਦਣ-ਜੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਿੰਦਣ-ਜੋਗ ਮਿਥ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਭੀ) ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ (ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤੀਆਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਲੈ ਲੈ ਕੇ) ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।3।

(ਸੋ, ਨਾਹ ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਾ ਮਾਣ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਭ ਪੁਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਭਾਵਿਕ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ) ਫਾਹੀ ਕੱਟ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ– ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ ਨਿਰਮੋਹ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।4। 4।5।

He decides to go to the west, but the Lord leads him away to the east. In an instant, He establishes and disestablishes; He holds all matters in His hands. || 1 || Cleverness is of no use at all. Whatever my Lord and Master deems to be right — that alone comes to pass. || 1 || Pause || In his desire to acquire land and accumulate wealth, one’s breath escapes him. He must leave all his armies, assistants and servants; rising up, he departs to the City of Death. || 2 || Believing himself to be unique, he clings to his stubborn mind, and shows himself off. That food, which the blameless people have condemned and discarded, he eats again and again. || 3 || One, unto whom the Lord shows His natural mercy, has the noose of Death cut away from him. Says Nanak, one who meets the Perfect Guru, is celebrated as a householder as well as a renunciate. || 4 || 4 || 5 ||

 ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਾਖੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਿੰਙੀ ਬਾਜੈ ਲੋਕੁ ਸੁਣੇ ॥ ਪਤੁ ਝੋਲੀ ਮੰਗਣ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ਭੀਖਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਪੜੇ ॥੧॥ ਬਾਬਾ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਜਾਗੈ ॥ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਸੋ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੋਇ ਉਠਾਲੀ ਕਰਤੇ ਬਾਰ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ਪਾਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਪਵਣਿ ਬੰਧਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਚੰਦੁ ਸੂਰਜੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਦੀਏ ॥ ਮਰਣ ਜੀਵਣ ਕਉ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੀਨੀ ਏਤੇ ਗੁਣ ਵਿਸਰੇ ॥੨॥ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਅਰੁ ਜੋਗੀ ਜੰਗਮ ਪੀਰ ਪੁਰਸ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ ॥ ਜੇ ਤਿਨ ਮਿਲਾ ਤ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਆਖਾ ਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੇ ॥੩॥ ਕਾਗਦੁ ਲੂਣੁ ਰਹੈ ਘ੍ਰਿਤ ਸੰਗੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਕਮਲੁ ਰਹੈ ॥ ਐਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਮਿਲਹਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਜਮੁ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੈ ॥੪॥੪॥

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਗੋਰਖ ਦਾ ਚੇਲਾ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰ ਮੇਰਾ) ਗੋਰਖ (ਸਦਾ ਜੀਊਂਦਾ) ਜਾਗਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਮੇਰਾ) ਗੋਰਖ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਚਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

(ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ) ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਸਦਾਅ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜਨੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਦਾਅ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਾਖਿਆਤ ਵੇਖਣਾ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਮੇਰੀ ਸਿੰਙੀ ਵੱਜ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। (ਉਸ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਭਿੱਛਿਆ) ਮੰਗਣ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਯੋਗ ਪਾਤ੍ਰ ਬਣਾਣਾ ਮੈਂ (ਮੋਢੇ ਉਤੇ) ਝੋਲੀ ਪਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਤਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ-ਭਿੱਛਿਆ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ।੧।

(ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ) ਪਾਣੀ ਪਉਣ (ਆਦਿਕ ਤੱਤਾਂ) ਵਿਚ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਟਿਕਾ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ, ਸੂਰਜ ਤੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਮੁਖੀ ਦੀਵੇ ਬਣਾਏ ਹਨ, ਵੱਸਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਧਰਤੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਇਤਨੇ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ।੨।

ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੰਗਮ ਜੋਗੀ ਪੀਰ ਜੋਗ-ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪੁੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੋਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾਂਗਾ ਤਾਂ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਹੀ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ (ਮੇਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ-ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ) ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੀ ਕਰੇਗਾ।੩।

ਜਿਵੇਂ ਲੂਣ ਘਿਉ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਗਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਾਗ਼ਜ਼ ਘਿਉ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਕੁਮਲਾਂਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਮ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੁਝ ਵਿਗਾੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।੪।੪।

RAAMKALEE, FIRST MEHL:

Awareness of the Shabad and the Teachings is my horn; the people hear the sound of its vibrations. Honor is my begging-bowl, and the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the charity I receive. || 1 || O Baba, Gorakh is the Lord of the Universe; He is always awake and aware. He alone is Gorakh, who sustains the earth; He created it in an instant. || 1 || Pause || Binding together water and air, He infused the breath of life into the body, and made the lamps of the sun and the moon. To die and to live, He gave us the earth, but we have forgotten these blessings. || 2 || There are so many Siddhas, seekers, Yogis, wandering pilgrims, spiritual teachers and good people. If I meet them, I chant the Lord’s Praises, and then, my mind serves Him. || 3 || Paper and salt, protected by ghee, remain untouched by water, as the lotus remains unaffected in water. Those who meet with such devotees, O servant Nanak — what can death do to them? || 4 || 4 ||

 

ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਘਰੁ ੬    ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ਉਜਲੁ ਕੈਹਾ ਚਿਲਕਣਾ ਘੋਟਿਮ ਕਾਲੜੀ ਮਸੁ ॥ ਧੋਤਿਆ ਜੂਠਿ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਜੇ ਸਉ ਧੋਵਾ ਤਿਸੁ ॥੧॥ ਸਜਣ ਸੇਈ ਨਾਲਿ ਮੈ ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ਚਲੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥ ਜਿਥੈ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਤਿਥੈ ਖੜੇ ਦਿਸੰਨਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਕੋਠੇ ਮੰਡਪ ਮਾੜੀਆ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਚਿਤਵੀਆਹਾ ॥ ਢਠੀਆ ਕੰਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਸਖਣੀਆਹਾ ॥੨॥ ਬਗਾ ਬਗੇ ਕਪੜੇ ਤੀਰਥ ਮੰਝਿ ਵਸੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥ ਘੁਟਿ ਘੁਟਿ ਜੀਆ ਖਾਵਣੇ ਬਗੇ ਨਾ ਕਹੀਅਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥੩॥ ਸਿੰਮਲ ਰੁਖੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਮੈ ਮੈਜਨ ਦੇਖਿ ਭੁਲੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥ ਸੇ ਫਲ ਕੰਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਤੇ ਗੁਣ ਮੈ ਤਨਿ ਹੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥੪॥ ਅੰਧੁਲੈ ਭਾਰੁ ਉਠਾਇਆ ਡੂਗਰ ਵਾਟ ਬਹੁਤੁ ॥ ਅਖੀ ਲੋੜੀ ਨਾ ਲਹਾ ਹਉ ਚੜਿ ਲੰਘਾ ਕਿਤੁ ॥੫॥ ਚਾਕਰੀਆ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆ ਅਵਰ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕਿਤੁ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਤੂੰ ਬਧਾ ਛੁਟਹਿ ਜਿਤੁ ॥੬॥੧॥੩॥  ਅਰਥ: ਮੈਂ ਕੈਂਹ (ਦਾ) ਸਾਫ਼ ਤੇ ਲਿਸ਼ਕਵਾਂ (ਭਾਂਡਾ) ਘਸਾਇਆ (ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਮਾੜੀ ਮਾੜੀ ਕਾਲੀ ਸਿਆਹੀ (ਲੱਗ ਗਈ) । ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਸੌ ਵਾਰੀ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਕੈਂਹ ਦੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਨੂੰ ਧੋਵਾਂ (ਸਾਫ਼ ਕਰਾਂ) ਤਾਂ ਭੀ (ਬਾਹਰੋਂ) ਧੋਣ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਅੰਦਰਲੀ) ਜੂਠ (ਕਾਲਖ) ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।੧। ਮੇਰੇ ਅਸਲ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਉਹੀ ਹਨ ਜੋ (ਸਦਾ) ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿਣ, ਤੇ (ਇਥੋਂ) ਤੁਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਭੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਚੱਲਣ, (ਅਗਾਂਹ) ਜਿਥੇ (ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ) ਹਿਸਾਬ ਮੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਥੇ ਅਝੱਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਦੇ ਸਕਣ (ਭਾਵ, ਹਿਸਾਬ ਦੇਣ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਸਕਣ) ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। ਜੇਹੜੇ ਘਰ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਹਲ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਪਾਸਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਤਾਂ ਚਿੱਤਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਣ, ਪਰ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਹੋਣ, (ਉਹ ਢਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ) ਢੱਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ।੨। ਬਗਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਟੇ ਖੰਭ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਵੱਸਦੇ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਹੀ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਗਲੋਂ) ਘੁੱਟ ਘੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਖਾ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ (ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਸਾਫ਼ ਸੁਥਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ।੩। (ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਸਿੰਬਲ ਦਾ ਰੁੱਖ (ਹੈ ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਮੇਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਹੈ, (ਸਿੰਬਲ ਦੇ ਫਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਤੋਤੇ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਖਾ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਸਿੰਬਲ ਦੇ) ਉਹ ਫਲ (ਤੋਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ) ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ, ਉਹੋ ਜੇਹੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ।੪। ਮੈਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਨੇ (ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ) ਭਾਰ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, (ਅਗਾਂਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ-ਪੰਧ) ਬੜਾ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਰਸਤਾ ਹੈ। ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਲਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ ਰਾਹ-ਖਹਿੜਾ ਲੱਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿਚ) ਕਿਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ (ਪਹਾੜੀ ਤੇ) ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂ?।੫। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਹਾੜੀ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਰਗੇ ਬਿਖੜੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਪੰਧ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣ ਲਈ) ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ਾਮਦਾਂ, ਲੋਕ-ਵਿਖਾਵੇ ਤੇ ਚਲਾਕੀਆਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਸਾਂਭ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ। (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਬੱਝਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਨਾਮ (-ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ (ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾ ਸਕੇਂਗਾ।੯।੧।੩। SOOHEE, FIRST MEHL, SIXTH HOUSE:

ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:

Bronze is bright and shiny, but when it is rubbed, its blackness appears. Washing it, its impurity is not removed, even if it is washed a hundred times. || 1 || They alone are my friends, who travel along with me; and in that place, where the accounts are called for, they appear standing with me. || 1 || Pause || There are houses, mansions and tall buildings, painted on all sides; but they are empty within, and they crumble like useless ruins. || 2 || The herons in their white feathers dwell in the sacred shrines of pilgrimage. They tear apart and eat the living beings, and so they are not called white. || 3 || My body is like the simmal tree; seeing me, other people are fooled. Its fruits are useless — just like the qualities of my body. || 4 || The blind man is carrying such a heavy load, and his journey through the mountains is so long. My eyes can see, but I cannot find the Way. How can I climb up and cross over the mountain? || 5 || What good does it do to serve, and be good, and be clever? O Nanak, contemplate the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and you shall be released from bondage. || 6 || 1 || 3 ||
