ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਖਾਇਆ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਸੋਇਆ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਕਾਪੜੁ ਅੰਗਿ ਚੜਾਇਆ ॥

ਹੇ ਮਾਧੋ! ਮੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਮੇਰੀ ਕੰਗਾਲਤਾ ਦਾ ਹੁਣ ਹੋਰ ਪਰਤਾਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ। ਹੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਰਾਮ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਿਦਕ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਕਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਚ ਜਾਇਆ ਕਰੇ।੧। ਹੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਰਾਮ! ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ; ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਗੱਲੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਦਾ ? ਰਹਾਉ। ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ – ਹੇ ਮਾਧੋ! ਕਈ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ । ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਜਨਮ ਤੇਰੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਬੀਤੇ; ਤੇਰਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਬੜਾ ਚਿਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਜੀਊਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੨।੧।

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਓ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਤੁ ਸਾਰਾ ॥ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟੇ ਨਿਮਖ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਰਿਉਤਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵਹੁ ਪੁਰਖ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਮਹਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਸਾਧੂ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਨੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਮੁਕਤਿਭੁਗਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ॥ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥੨॥ ਸ੍ਰਵਣੀਸੁਣੀਐ ਰਸਨਾ ਗਾਈਐ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸੋਈ ॥ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੩॥ ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿਰਤਨ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ॥ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਸਦਾ ਗੋਪਾਲਾ ॥ ਅਰਥ: ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ! ਸਦਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪੀਆ ਕਰ। (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਕਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾਹੈ।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਬੜੀ ਲੰਮੀ ਖੋਜ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਅਸੀ ਇਸ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (-ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ) ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ (ਇਹ ਨਾਮ) ਅੱਖ ਦੇ ਫੋਰ ਵਿਚ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਪਾਪ ਕੱਟ ਦੇਂਦਾਹੈ, ਤੇ, (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜੇ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ (ਦਾਮੂਲ) , ਇਹੀ ਹੈ (ਆਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ, ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਜੀਊਣ ਦਾ ਸੁਚੱਜਾ ਢੰਗ। ਉਹ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ(ਇਹ) ਦਾਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ (ਹੀ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ।੨। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ-ਹੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ, ਉਸ (ਦੇ) ਹੀ (ਨਾਮ) ਨੂੰਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਗਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਰਾਧਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।੩। ਹੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ! ਹੇ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ! ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ (ਹੁਣ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, (ਤੇਰਾ ਸੇਵਕ) ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੇ, ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹੇ।੪।੧੦। SORAT’H, FIFTH MEHL:

I have searched and searched and searched, and found that the Lord’s Name is the most sublime reality. Contemplating it for even an instant, sins are erased; the Gurmukh is carried across and saved. || 1 || Drink in the sublime essence of the Lord’s Name, O man of spiritual wisdom. Listening to the Ambrosial Words of the Holy Saints, the mind finds absolute fulfillment and satisfaction. || Pause || Liberation, pleasures, and the true way of life are obtained from the Lord, the Giver of all peace. The Perfect Lord, the Architect of Destiny, blesses His slave with the gift of devotional worship. || 2 || Hear with your ears, and sing with your tongue, and meditate within your heart on Him. The Lord and Master is all-powerful, the Cause of causes; without Him, there is nothing at all. || 3 || By great good fortune, I have obtained the jewel of human life; have mercy on me, O Merciful Lord. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, Nanak sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and contemplates Him forever in meditation. || 4 || 10 ||

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਆਸਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਕੋਇ ਨਿਰਾਸਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਮਰਿ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਸਹਿਲਾ ਆਇਆ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਸਾ ਹਥਿ ਹੈ ਕੇਉ ਨਿਰਾਸਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੇ ਏਹ ਬਪੁੜੀ ਜਾਂ ਭੋੁਲਾਏ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥ ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਏਹੁ ਧਨੁ ॥ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਆਰਾਧੇ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸੋਇ ਜਨੁ ॥ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਅਗਮੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਏਕੁ ਭਨੁ ॥ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਰਬਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੨੦॥

ਅਰਥ: ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਆਸਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਫਸਿਆ ਪਿਆ) ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਨਿੱਤ ਨਵੀਆਂ ਆਸਾਂ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) , ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਸਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਸਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਹਟ ਕੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ) ਜੀਵਨ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਉਣਾ ਸਫਲ ਹੈ।1। ਆਸਾ' ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਤਾਕਤ ਨਹੀਂ (ਕਿ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫਸਾ ਸਕੇ; ਸੋ, ਆਪਣੇ ਉੱਦਮ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ) ਮਨੁੱਖ 'ਆਸਾ' ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਚ ਸਕਦਾ। ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰੀ 'ਆਸਾ' ਕੀਹ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ? ਭੁਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੈ।2।

सलोक मः ३ ॥ आसा अंदरि सभु को कोइ निरासा होइ ॥ नानक जो मरि जीविआ सहिला आइआ सोइ ॥१॥ मः ३ ॥ ना किछु आसा हथि है केउ निरासा होइ ॥ किआ करे एह बपुड़ी जां भुोलाए सोइ ॥२॥ पउड़ी ॥ ध्रिगु जीवणु संसार सचे नाम बिनु ॥ प्रभु दाता दातार निहचलु एहु धनु ॥ सासि सासि आराधे निरमलु सोइ जनु ॥ अंतरजामी अगमु रसना एकु भनु ॥ रवि रहिआ सरबति नानकु बलि जाई ॥२०॥

अर्थ: हरेक जीव आशाओं में (फसा हुआ) है (भाव, नित्य-नई आशाएं तमन्नाएं बनाता रहता है), कोई विरला मनुष्य है जो आशाओं से बचा रहता है। हे नानक! जो मनुष्य आशाओं से हट के (प्रभु के स्मरण में) जीवन गुजारता है उसका आना सफल है।1। ‘आसा’ के हाथ में कोई ताकत नहीं (कि जीवों को फसा सके; सो, अपने उद्यम से भी) मनुष्य ‘आशा’ से नहीं बच सकता। ये बेचारी ‘आसा’ क्या कर सकती है? भुलाता तो वह प्रभु खुद है।2। सदा कायम रहने वाले प्रभु का नाम स्मरण के बिना जगत में जीना धिक्कारयोग्य है। प्रभु ही (सबका) दाता है सब दातें देने वाला है; सो, उसका ये (नाम-) धन ही (ऐसा है जो) कभी नाश होने वाला नहीं। वही मनुष्य पवित्र (जीवन वाला) है जो (प्रभु को) हरेक सांस के साथ याद करता है। (हे भाई!) जीभ से उस एक प्रभु को याद कर जो सबके दिल की जानता है और जो (जीवों की) पहुँच से परे है। नानक उस प्रभु से सदके है जो सभी में व्यापक है।20।

SHALOK, THIRD MEHL: Everyone is filled with hope; hardly anyone is free of hope. O Nanak, blessed is the birth of one, who remains dead while yet alive. || 1 || THIRD MEHL: Nothing is in the hands of hope. How can one become free of hope? What can this poor being do? The Lord Himself creates confusion. || 2 || PAUREE: Cursed is the life in this world, without the True Name. God is the Great Giver of givers. His wealth is permanent and unchanging. That humble being is immaculate, who worships the Lord with each and every breath. With your tongue, vibrate the One Inaccessible Lord, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. He is all-pervading everywhere. Nanak is a sacrifice to Him. || 20 ||
