ਅਰਥ: (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਜਪਿਆ, (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾਨਾਲ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਿਆ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ (ਦਾ ਗੀਤ) ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰੋ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ) ਇਹ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ। (ਕੀਰਤਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਆਸਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਈ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ) ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚ ਸੁੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਤੂੰ ਜਾਗ ਪਏਂਗਾ।੧।

ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ, ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਾਇਆ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਦੇ ਪੜਦੇ ਪਾਟਣਗੇ। ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਰਸ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ, ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।੨।

ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਅਸਾਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਸਿੱਟਾ ਕੱਢਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਉਹ ਭਗਤੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਅਤੇ ਤਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੩।

ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਆਪਣੀ) ਸਿਆਣਪ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ। (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਭੁਇਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਣੀ ਜੀਊਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਅਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ) , ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਹ ਜਾਲਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਖਸਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।੧੬।੧੭।

Sing the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises, and the Beej Mantra, the Seed Mantra. Even the homeless find a home in the world hereafter. Fall at the feet of the Perfect Guru; you have slept for so many incarnations — wake up! || 1 || Chant the Chant of the Lord’s Name, Har, Har. By Guru’s Grace, it shall be enshrined within your heart, and you shall cross over the terrifying world-ocean. || 1 || Pause || Meditate on the eternal treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, O mind, and then, the screen of Maya shall be torn away. Drink in the Ambrosial Nectar of the Guru’s Shabad, and then your soul shall be rendered immaculate and pure. || 2 || Searching, searching, searching, I have realized that without devotional worship of the Lord, no one is saved. So vibrate, and meditate on that Lord in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; your mind and body shall be imbued with love for the Lord. || 3 || Renounce all your cleverness and trickery. O mind, without the Lord’s Name, there is no place of rest. The Lord of the Universe, the Lord of the World, has taken pity on me. ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਘਰੁ ੬    ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ਉਜਲੁ ਕੈਹਾ ਚਿਲਕਣਾ ਘੋਟਿਮ ਕਾਲੜੀ ਮਸੁ ॥ ਧੋਤਿਆ ਜੂਠਿ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਜੇ ਸਉ ਧੋਵਾ ਤਿਸੁ ॥੧॥ ਸਜਣ ਸੇਈ ਨਾਲਿ ਮੈ ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ਚਲੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥ ਜਿਥੈ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਤਿਥੈ ਖੜੇ ਦਿਸੰਨਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਕੋਠੇ ਮੰਡਪ ਮਾੜੀਆ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਚਿਤਵੀਆਹਾ ॥ ਢਠੀਆ ਕੰਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਸਖਣੀਆਹਾ ॥੨॥ ਬਗਾ ਬਗੇ ਕਪੜੇ ਤੀਰਥ ਮੰਝਿ ਵਸੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥ ਘੁਟਿ ਘੁਟਿ ਜੀਆ ਖਾਵਣੇ ਬਗੇ ਨਾ ਕਹੀਅਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥੩॥ ਸਿੰਮਲ ਰੁਖੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਮੈ ਮੈਜਨ ਦੇਖਿ ਭੁਲੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥ ਸੇ ਫਲ ਕੰਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਤੇ ਗੁਣ ਮੈ ਤਨਿ ਹੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥੪॥ ਅੰਧੁਲੈ ਭਾਰੁ ਉਠਾਇਆ ਡੂਗਰ ਵਾਟ ਬਹੁਤੁ ॥ ਅਖੀ ਲੋੜੀ ਨਾ ਲਹਾ ਹਉ ਚੜਿ ਲੰਘਾ ਕਿਤੁ ॥੫॥ ਚਾਕਰੀਆ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆ ਅਵਰ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕਿਤੁ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਤੂੰ ਬਧਾ ਛੁਟਹਿ ਜਿਤੁ ॥੬॥੧॥੩॥  ਅਰਥ: ਮੈਂ ਕੈਂਹ (ਦਾ) ਸਾਫ਼ ਤੇ ਲਿਸ਼ਕਵਾਂ (ਭਾਂਡਾ) ਘਸਾਇਆ (ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਮਾੜੀ ਮਾੜੀ ਕਾਲੀ ਸਿਆਹੀ (ਲੱਗ ਗਈ) । ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਸੌ ਵਾਰੀ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਕੈਂਹ ਦੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਨੂੰ ਧੋਵਾਂ (ਸਾਫ਼ ਕਰਾਂ) ਤਾਂ ਭੀ (ਬਾਹਰੋਂ) ਧੋਣ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਅੰਦਰਲੀ) ਜੂਠ (ਕਾਲਖ) ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।੧। ਮੇਰੇ ਅਸਲ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਉਹੀ ਹਨ ਜੋ (ਸਦਾ) ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿਣ, ਤੇ (ਇਥੋਂ) ਤੁਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਭੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਚੱਲਣ, (ਅਗਾਂਹ) ਜਿਥੇ (ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ) ਹਿਸਾਬ ਮੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਥੇ ਅਝੱਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਦੇ ਸਕਣ (ਭਾਵ, ਹਿਸਾਬ ਦੇਣ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਸਕਣ) ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। ਜੇਹੜੇ ਘਰ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਹਲ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਪਾਸਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਤਾਂ ਚਿੱਤਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਣ, ਪਰ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਹੋਣ, (ਉਹ ਢਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ) ਢੱਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ।੨। ਬਗਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਟੇ ਖੰਭ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਵੱਸਦੇ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਹੀ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਗਲੋਂ) ਘੁੱਟ ਘੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਖਾ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ (ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਸਾਫ਼ ਸੁਥਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ।੩। (ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਸਿੰਬਲ ਦਾ ਰੁੱਖ (ਹੈ ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਮੇਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਹੈ, (ਸਿੰਬਲ ਦੇ ਫਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਤੋਤੇ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਖਾ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਸਿੰਬਲ ਦੇ) ਉਹ ਫਲ (ਤੋਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ) ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ, ਉਹੋ ਜੇਹੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ।੪। ਮੈਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਨੇ (ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ) ਭਾਰ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, (ਅਗਾਂਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ-ਪੰਧ) ਬੜਾ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਰਸਤਾ ਹੈ। ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਲਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ ਰਾਹ-ਖਹਿੜਾ ਲੱਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿਚ) ਕਿਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ (ਪਹਾੜੀ ਤੇ) ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂ?।੫। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਹਾੜੀ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਰਗੇ ਬਿਖੜੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਪੰਧ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣ ਲਈ) ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ਾਮਦਾਂ, ਲੋਕ-ਵਿਖਾਵੇ ਤੇ ਚਲਾਕੀਆਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਸਾਂਭ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ। (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਬੱਝਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਨਾਮ (-ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ (ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾ ਸਕੇਂਗਾ।੯।੧।੩। SOOHEE, FIRST MEHL, SIXTH HOUSE:

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ (ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ) ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ (ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਹੀ) ਮੇਰੇ (ਅਸਲ) ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ (ਲੋਚਦਾ) ਹਾਂ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ) ਪਰਸਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਾਰੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੇ) ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਖੂਹ ਵਿਚ ਗਲ-ਸੜ ਰਹੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਉਹ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਆਪਣਾ) ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਖੂਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਕੱਢ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਸ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ (ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ) ਬੜੇ ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਜਨਮ ਤੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਲੇਖ ਉਘੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ-ਜਨ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਿਆਂ (ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਆਸਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਡਰਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ (ਸਾਧ-ਸੰਗ) ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੩।

ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹਰੀ! ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਓਟ ਹੈਂ, ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈਂ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ, ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਮਿਲਾ) ।੪।੧੯।੪੯।

O brother! Those whom (my mind) meets are filled with bliss, those who give (me) the gift of spiritual life, they (saints) are my (real) friends, I (desire) the dust of their feet. .रहाउ।

O brother! At the feet of those Sant Jan, all sins are destroyed, peace is created in the mind from the intense heat of vices. Those human beings (of vices and sins) who are languishing in the deep dark well, are taken out (of that well) by giving them (those Sant Jan own) hands.

O brother! In this human birth (when a human being gets a Sant Jan), the inscription written on his forehead from a very previous birth is revealed. Living in the Sangat of Prabhu's Sevak-Jan (all the hopes of that human being are fulfilled).

O brother! The name of the Lord prevails in the mind of the man on whom the all-powerful Guru has shown mercy, all the fears (of him) that frighten the whole world vanish (because by the grace of the Guru) give him happiness. Location (Sadh-sang) is found.

O original Lord of the world! O Lord, Master of all powers! O inaccessible God! O Infinite God! Thou art Nanak's refuge, Thou art Nanak's support (I have also met Nanak, Guru, Sant Jan).

ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਭੈ ਮਤ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਕਰੀ ਕਰਮ ਕੀ ਆਸਾ ॥ ਕਾਲ ਗ੍ਰਸਤ ਸਭ ਲੋਗ ਸਿਆਨੇ ਉਠਿ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਪੈ ਚਲੇ ਨਿਰਾਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਮਨ ਰੇ ਸਰਿਓ ਨ ਏਕੈ ਕਾਜਾ ॥ ਭਜਿਓ ਨ ਰਘੁਪਤਿ ਰਾਜਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਬਨ ਖੰਡ ਜਾਇ ਜੋਗੁ ਤਪੁ ਕੀਨੋ ਕੰਦ ਮੂਲੁ ਚੁਨਿ ਖਾਇਆ ॥ ਨਾਦੀ ਬੇਦੀ ਸਬਦੀ ਮੋਨੀ ਜਮ ਕੇ ਪਟੈ ਲਿਖਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਾਰਦੀ ਰਿਦੈ ਨ ਆਈ ਕਾਛਿ ਕੂਛਿ ਤਨੁ ਦੀਨਾ ॥ ਰਾਗ ਰਾਗਨੀ ਡਿੰਭ ਹੋਇ ਬੈਠਾ ਉਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਹਿ ਕਿਆ ਲੀਨਾ ॥੩॥ ਪਰਿਓ ਕਾਲੁ ਸਭੈ ਜਗ ਊਪਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਲਿਖੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥ ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਨ ਭਏ ਖਾਲਸੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਿਹ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੪॥੩॥ 

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼-ਰੂਪ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ, ਤੈਥੋਂ ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਕੰਮ ਭੀ (ਜੋ ਕਰਨ-ਜੋਗ ਸੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਿਆ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਵੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਤ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਕਰਮ-ਕਾਂਡ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਰੱਖੀ, (ਇਹ ਆਸ ਰੱਖੀ ਕਿ ਕਰਮ-ਕਾਂਡ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੌਰੇਗਾ) , ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਮੌਤ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਗ੍ਰਸੇ ਰਹੇ। ਪੰਡਿਤ ਲੋਕ ਭੀ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੀ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ (ਜਗਤ ਤਿਆਗ ਗਏ) ।੧।

ਕਈ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਜੋਗ ਸਾਧੇ, ਤਪ ਕੀਤੇ, ਗਾਜਰ-ਮੂਲੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਚੁਣ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ; ਜੋਗੀ, ਕਰਮ-ਕਾਂਡੀ, 'ਅਲੱਖ' ਆਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੋਗੀ, ਮੋਨਧਾਰੀ-ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਮ ਦੇ ਲੇਖੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲਿਖੇ ਗਏ (ਭਾਵ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਧਨ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ) ।੨।

ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਤਾਂ (ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ) ਚੱਕਰ ਆਦਿਕ ਲਾ ਲਏ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਈ, ਜੋ ਰਾਗ ਰਾਗਨੀਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਨਿਰਾ ਪਖੰਡ-ਮੂਰਤੀ ਹੀ ਬਣ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈ, ਅਜਿਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ।੩।

ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਾਲ ਦਾ ਸਹਿਮ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਭਰਮੀ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਭੀ ਉਸੇ ਹੀ ਲੇਖੇ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਖੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ (ਉਹ ਭੀ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਹਨ) । ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਆਖ-ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਸਮਝ ਲਈ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਮ ਤੋਂ) ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ।੪।੩।

Meaning: O mind! You have not worshipped the Lord in the form of light, you have not been able to do even one thing (which was fit to be done). 1. Rahau.

Those wise men who, after listening to all the teachings of the Vedas and Puranas, had hope in ritualistic practices (hoping that life would be restored through ritualistic practices), all remained immersed in (spiritual) death. Even the learned men rose up and left without their hopes being fulfilled (renouncing the world). 1.

Many people went to the forests and became ascetics, did penance, and lived by eating carrots and radishes; Yogis, ritualistic practitioners, yogis who claim to be 'unseen', and monks - all these are recorded in the account of the accumulation of wealth (i.e., their means cannot save them from the fear of death). 2.

A person who has put on (religious symbols) chakras etc. on his body, but love and devotion has not arisen in his heart, who sings ragas and raginis but has become a mere hypocrite, such a person does not receive anything from God. 3.

The fear of time is upon the whole world, the deluded wise are also written in the same account (they are also in the fear of death). O Kabir! Say - those people who have understood the practice of love and devotion have become free (from the fear of death). 4.3.
