ਟੋਡੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਸਦਾ ਖੁਆਰੀ ॥ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਧੋਖਾ ਕਹਾ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਓਟ ਤੁਹਾਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਨਜੋ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਬਲਨਾ ਸਰਪ ਜੈਸੇ ਅਰਜਾਰੀ ॥ ਨਵ ਖੰਡਨ ਕੋ ਰਾਜੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਅੰਤਿ ਚਲੈਗੋ ਹਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਗੁਣ ਤਿਨ ਹੀਗਾਏ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ ਸੋ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਧੰਨੁ ਉਸੁ ਜਨਮਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੨॥੨॥  ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾਇਆਂ ਸਦਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ) ਬੇ-ਪਤੀ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਸਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ) ਧੋਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦਾ।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜਿਤਨੀ ਭੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਨੀ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਇਉਂ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੱਪ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਉਮਰ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਮਰ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਲੰਮੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) । (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂਵਾਂਜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੇ) ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਭੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੇ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਹਾਰ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਗਾਏ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਿਤੀਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਮੁਬਾਰਿਕ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਅਜੇਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।੨। TODEE, FIFTH MEHL:

Forgetting the Lord, one is ruined forever. How can anyone be deceived, who has Your Support, O Lord? || Pause || Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, life is like a burning fire, even if one lives long, like a snake. One may rule over the nine regions of the earth, but in the end, he shall have to depart, losing the game of life. || 1 || He alone sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the treasure of virtue, upon whom the Lord showers His Grace. ਸਲੋਕ ॥ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਣੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਅਨੇਕ ਉਦਮਹ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਵ ਹੀਣੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਤਤਹ ॥੧॥ ਤੁਟੜੀਆ ਸਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਜੋ ਲਾਈ ਬਿਅੰਨ ਸਿਉ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੀ ਰੀਤਿ ਸਾਂਈ ਸੇਤੀ ਰਤਿਆ ॥੨॥ 

ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਜਿਸੁ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਤਨੁ ਭਸਮ ਹੋਇ ਕਹਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਤੁ ॥ ਖਿਨੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮਹਿ ਬਸਨ ਨ ਦੇਵਹੀ ਜਿਨ ਸਿਉ ਸੋਈ ਹੇਤੁ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਅਨਰਥ ਦਰਬੁ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਸੋ ਕਾਰਜਿ ਕੇਤੁ ॥ ਜੈਸਾ ਬੀਜੈ ਸੋ ਲੁਣੈ ਕਰਮ ਇਹੁ ਖੇਤੁ ॥ ਅਕਿਰਤਘਣਾ ਹਰਿ ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ਜੋਨੀ ਭਰਮੇਤੁ ॥੪॥ 

ਜੈਤਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਵਾਰ ਸਲੋਕਾ ਨਾਲਿ    ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ਅਰਥ: ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਟੱਬਰ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕਈ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਆਹਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਜਿੰਨ ਭੂਤ ਹਨ।੧।

ਜੇਹੜੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਈਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਤੇ ਰਹੀਏ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।੨।

ਅਰਥ: ਜਿਸ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਵਿਛੁੜਨ ਨਾਲ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਸਰੀਰ ਸੁਆਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ (ਉਸ ਸਰੀਰ) ਨੂੰ ਅਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਆਖਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ; ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਨਬੰਧੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਤਨਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਇਕ ਪਲਕ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਂਦੇ। ਪਾਪ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਾਹ ਆਇਆ।

ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ (ਕੀਤੇ) ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੀ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਪੈਲੀ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਵਿਚ) ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ (ਕਰਮ-ਰੂਪ ਬੀਜ ਕੋਈ) ਬੀਜਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਵੱਢਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ) ਕੀਤੇ (ਉਪਕਾਰਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਆਖ਼ਰ) ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਹਨ।੪।

People make many efforts for their families, they make many sacrifices for the sake of Maya, but they remain devoid of the desire for the devotion of the Lord, and O Nanak! Those who forget the Lord are like ghosts. 1.

The love that one has for someone else (other than the Lord) is ultimately broken. But, O Nanak! If one remains attached to the Lord, then such a life-world remains forever. 2.

Meaning: With the separation of the soul, the body (of a person) turns to ashes, all people start calling (that body) impure; Those relatives with whom one has so much love, they do not allow to stay in the house even for a moment. He kept accumulating wealth by committing sins, but that soul was of no use.

This body is a field of (done) deeds (as if). Whatever one sows (in it), that is what one reaps. Those who forget the (benefits) done by (the Lord), they forget it and (eventually) wander in the lives. 4.

ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ॥ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਗਇਆ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥ ਜੀਵਤ ਸੁੰਨਿ ਸਮਾਨਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਖੀ ਜਾਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਕਾਸੀ ਤੇ ਧੁਨਿ ਊਪਜੈ ਧੁਨਿ ਕਾਸੀ ਜਾਈ ॥ ਕਾਸੀ ਫੂਟੀ ਪੰਡਿਤਾ ਧੁਨਿ ਕਹਾਂ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਤ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਸੰਧਿ ਮੈ ਪੇਖਿਆ ਘਟ ਹੂ ਘਟ ਜਾਗੀ ॥ ਐਸੀ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਮਾਚਰੀ ਘਟ ਮਾਹਿ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥੨॥ ਆਪੁ ਆਪ ਤੇ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਤੇਜ ਤੇਜੁ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥ ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਅਬ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਾ ॥੩॥੧੧॥  ਅਰਥ: (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਐਸੀ ਬੁੱਧ ਜਾਗ ਪਈ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਨਮ-ਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਜੁੜ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਫੁਰਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਠਦੇ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੈਂਹ ਦੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਨੂੰ ਠਣਕਾਇਆਂ ਉਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਨਿਕਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜੇ (ਠਣਕਾਣਾ) ਛੱਡ ਦੇਈਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਕੈਂਹ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰਕ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ ਹਾਲ ਹੈ। (ਜਦੋਂ ਦੀ ਬੁੱਧ ਜਾਗੀ ਹੈ) ਮੇਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਮੋਹ ਮਿਟ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ (ਮੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਮਾਇਕ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਠਟਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਭਾਂਡਾ ਭੱਜ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ) , ਹੁਣ ਪਤਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਜਾ ਗੁੰਮ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।੧। (ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਬੁੱਧ ਜਾਗਣ ਤੇ) ਮੈਂ ਅੰਦਰਲੀ ਖਿੱਝ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਘਟ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤ ਜਗਦੀ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ; ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਐਸੀ ਮੱਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਵਿਰਕਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।੨। ਹੁਣ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪੈ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੀ ਜੋਤ ਰੱਬੀ-ਜੋਤ ਵਿਚ ਰਲ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਆਖ-ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਪਾ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਾਲ ਗਿੱਝ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।੩।੧੧। ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਭਾਵ: ਜਿਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਸਰੀਰ ਨਾਲ ਮੋਹ ਹੈ, ਦੇਹ-ਅੱਧਿਆਸ ਹੈ, ਉਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਖਿੱਝ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਣਦੇ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੱਥੇ ਵੱਟ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆਂ ਇਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਊੜੀ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। BILAAVAL:

The illusion of birth and death is gone; I lovingly focus on the Lord of the Universe. In my life, I am absorbed in deep silent meditation; the Guru’s Teachings have awakened me. || 1 || Pause || The sound made from bronze, that sound goes into the bronze again. But when the bronze is broken, O Pandit, O religious scholar, where does the sound go then? || 1 || I gaze upon the world, the confluence of the three qualities; God is awake and aware in each and every heart. Such is the understanding revealed to me; within my heart, I have become a detached renunciate. || 2 || I have come to know my own self, and my light has merged in the Light. Says Kabeer, now I know the Lord of the Universe, and my mind is satisfied. || 3 || 11 ||

ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨੂੰ) ਰਾਹ ਦੱਸੇ ਤਾਂ (ਉਸ ਰਾਹ ਉਤੇ) ਉਹੀ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਵੇ; ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੁਜਾਖਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਆਖੇ) ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ । (ਪਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ) ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਹੀਦਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਉਤੇ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਉਹੀ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ।੧।ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਸੁਜਾਖਾ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ (ਸੁਜਾਖਾ) ਬਣਾਏ, (ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ, ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤਾਂ) ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਸੌ ਵਾਰੀ ਸਮਝਾਏ । ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ‘ਨਾਮ’-ਰੂਪ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਦੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਓਥੇ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਸਮਝੋ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗਾਹਕ ਜਿਸ ਸਉਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਵਿਹਾਵੇ ਕਿਵੇਂ? ।੨।ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ-ਹੀਣ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖਦੇ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ।੩।(ਮਨੁੱਖਾ-) ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਰੂਪ) ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਕਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਹੈ ਗੜ੍ਹ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸਾਂਤਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ) । ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਸਾਜੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਉਸ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ) ਲੁਕਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ । ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਤਾਂ ਹੀ) ਸੱਚਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਸੱਚਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧੬।

English Translation: 

SHALOK, SECOND MEHL: 

He is truly blind, who follows the way shown by the blind man. O Nanak, why should the one who can see, get lost? Do not call them blind, who have no eyes in their face. They alone are blind, O Nanak, who wander away from their Lord and Master. || 1 || SECOND MEHL: One whom the Lord has made blind — the Lord can make him see again. He acts only as he knows, although he may be spoken to a hundred times. Where the real thing is not seen, self-conceit prevails there — know this well. O Nanak, how can the purshaser purchase the real thing, if he cannot recognize it? || 2 || SECOND MEHL: How can someone be called blind, if he was made blind by the Lord’s Command? O Nanak, one who does not understand the Hukam of the Lord’s Command should be called blind. || 3 || PAUREE: Deep within the body is the fortress of the Lord, and all lands and countries. He Himself sits in primal, profound Samaadhi; He Himself is all-pervading. He Himself created the Universe, and He Himself remains hidden within it. Serving the Guru, the Lord is known, and the Truth is revealed. He is True, the Truest of the True; the Guru has imparted this understanding. || 16 ||

 ਜੈਤਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ਘਰੁ ੧ ਚਉਪਦੇ ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ਮੇਰੈ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਰਤਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਬਸਿਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਾਥੁ ਧਰਿਓ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਾਥਾ ॥ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਦੁਖ ਉਤਰੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਓ ਰਿਨੁ ਲਾਥਾ ॥੧॥ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਭਜੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਭਿ ਅਰਥਾ ॥ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਮੂੜ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਿਤ ਫਾਥਾ ॥ ਤਿਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਚਰਣ ਨ ਸੇਵੇ ਕਬਹੂ ਤਿਨ ਸਭੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਕਾਥਾ ॥੨॥ ਜਿਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਚਰਣ ਸਾਧ ਪਗ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਿਨ ਸਫਲਿਓ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਨਾਥਾ ॥ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕੀਜੈ ਦਾਸੁ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੋ ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰਿ ਜਗੰਨਾਥਾ ॥੩॥ ਹਮ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਗਿਆਨਹੀਨ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਿਉ ਚਾਲਹ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪੰਥਾ ॥ ਹਮ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਕਉ ਗੁਰ ਅੰਚਲੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਚਲਹ ਮਿਲੰਥਾ ॥੪॥੧॥ 

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ, (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ (ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ) । (ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ) ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਹੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪੱਕਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਤੇ, ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਚਲੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।ਰਹਾਉ।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਦੋਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰਤਨ (ਵਰਗਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ) ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ। (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰੋਂ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ) ਕਰਜ਼ਾ ਉਤਰ ਗਿਆ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ (ਦੀ ਸਰਨ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੂਰਖ ਹੋਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਖਸਮ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਨਾਥ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਬਣਾ ਲੈ।੩।

ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਅਸੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਹਾਂ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜੁਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਅਸੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ। ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਸਾਨੂੰ ਅੰਨਿ੍ਹਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜਾ, ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਅਸੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਰਸਤੇ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਸਕੀਏ।੪।੧।

JAITSREE, FOURTH MEHL, FIRST HOUSE, CHAU-PADAS:

ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:

The Jewel of the Lord’s Name abides within my heart; the Guru has placed His hand on my forehead. The sins and pains of countless incarnations have been cast out. The Guru has blessed me with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and my debt has been paid off. || 1 || O my mind, vibrate the Lord’s Name, and all your affairs shall be resolved. The Perfect Guru has implanted the Lord’s Name within me; without the Name, life is useless. || Pause || Without the Guru, the self-willed manmukhs are foolish and ignorant; they are forever entangled in emotional attachment to Maya. They never serve the feet of the Holy; their lives are totally useless. || 2 || Those who serve at the feet of the Holy, the feet of the Holy, their lives are made fruitful, and they belong to the Lord. Make me the slave of the slave of the slaves of the Lord; bless me with Your Mercy, O Lord of the Universe. || 3 || I am blind, ignorant and totally without wisdom; how can I walk on the Path? I am blind — O Guru, please let me grasp the hem of Your robe, so that servant Nanak may walk in harmony with You. || 4 || 1 

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਜਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਲਿਖਿਆਸੁ ॥

He acts according to pre-ordained destiny, written by the Creator Himself. Emotional attachment has drugged him, and he has forgotten the Lord, the treasure of virtue. Don’t think that he is alive in the world — he is dead, through the love of duality. Those who do not meditate on the Lord, as Gurmukh, are not permitted to sit near the Lord. They suffer the most horrible pain and suffering, and neither their sons nor their wives go along with them. Their faces are blackened among men, and they sigh in deep regret. No one places any reliance in the self-willed manmukhs; trust in them is lost. O Nanak, the Gurmukhs live in absolute peace; the Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides within them. || 1 || THIRD MEHL: They alone are relatives, and they alone are friends, who, as Gurmukh, join together in love. Night and day, they act according to the True Guru’s Will; they remain absorbed in the True Name. Those who are attached to the love of duality are not called friends; they practice egotism and corruption. The self-willed manmukhs are selfish; they cannot resolve anyone’s affairs. O Nanak, they act according to their pre-ordained destiny; no one can erase it. || 2 || PAUREE: You Yourself created the world, and You Yourself arranged the play of it. You Yourself created the three qualities, and fostered emotional attachment to Maya. He is called to account for his deeds done in egotism; he continues coming and going in reincarnation. The Guru instructs those whom the Lord Himself blesses with Grace. I am a sacrifice to my Guru; forever and ever, I am a sacrifice to Him. || 3||
