The daily Hukamnama Sahib from Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar including English and Punjabi translation audiooਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੪ ॥ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਭਈ ਮਤਿ ਮਧਿਮ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਕਪਟੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਪਟੋ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਕਪਟੇ ਖਪਹਿ ਖਪਾਹੀ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਆਪਣੈ ਸੁਆਇ ਫਿਰਾਹੀ ॥ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਜੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਹੀ ॥੧॥ਮਃ ੪ ॥ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਮਨੂਆ ਥਿਰੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਲਤ ਰਹਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਖਪਹਿ ਖਪਾਹਿ ॥ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੋਭੁ ਮਹਾ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ ਓਇ ਆਪਿ ਦੁਖੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਜਨਮਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਜਿ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਹਿ ॥੨॥ ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਸੰਤ ਭਗਤ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥ ਸੇਈ ਬਿਚਖਣ ਜੰਤ ਜਿਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਖਾਇਆ ॥ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਏ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਹਰਿ ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਾਇਆ ॥੨੬॥  ਅਰਥ: (ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਅਕਲਿ ਹੋਛੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਉਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਦਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ; ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਧੋਖਾ (ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ) ਉਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਧੋਖਾ ਹੀ ਧੋਖਾ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਮਨਮੁਖ ਬੰਦੇ ਆਪ) ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਦੁਖੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ; ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਭਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਦੇ) ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਗ਼ਰਜ਼ ਦੇ ਪਿਛੇ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ; ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇ ਹਰੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।੧। ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਗ੍ਰਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨਮੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਟਿਕਦਾ; ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ) ਸੜਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਪ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਖੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੋਭ-ਰੂਪ ਵੱਡਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦਾ; ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦੁਖੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਦੇ ਸੁਖੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ, ਸਦਾ ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜਨ, ਤਾਂ ਸੱਚਾ ਹਰੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਲਏ।੨।ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸੰਤ ਹਨ, ਭਗਤ ਹਨ ਉਹੀ ਕਬੂਲ ਹਨ।ਉਹੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ-ਰੂਪ ਭੋਜਨ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਤੇ ਲਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਹਰੀ (ਦੇ ਭਜਨ-ਰੂਪ) ਤੀਰਥ ਤੇ ਨ੍ਹਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੨੬।  SHALOK, FOURTH MEHL:  He has spiritual ignorance within, and his intellect is dull and dim; he does not place his faith in the True Guru. He has deceit within himself, and so he sees deception in all others; through his deceptions, he is totally ruined. The True Guru’s Will does not enter into his consciousness, and so he wanders around, pursuing his own interests. If He grants His Grace, then Nanak is absorbed into the Word of the Shabad. || 1 || FOURTH MEHL: The self-willed manmukhs are engrossed in emotional attachment to Maya; in the love of duality, their minds are unsteady. Night and day, they are burning; day and night, they are totally ruined by their egotism. Within them, is the total pitch darkness of greed, and no one even approaches them. They themselves are miserable, and they never find peace; they are born, only to die, and die again. O Nanak, the True Lord God forgives those, who focus their consciousness on the Guru’s feet. || 2 || PAUREE: That Saint, that devotee, is acceptable, who is loved by God. Those beings are wise, who meditate on the Lord. They eat the food, the treasure of the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord. They apply the dust of the feet of the Saints to their foreheads.  ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਜਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਲਿਖਿਆਸੁ ॥ ਮੋਹ ਠਗਉਲੀ ਪਾਈਅਨੁ ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥ 

 (ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਜੋ (ਸੰਸਕਾਰ-ਰੂਪ ਲੇਖ) ਲਿਖਿਆ (ਭਾਵ, ਉੱਕਰਿਆ) ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਲਿਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਜ਼ਰੂਰ) ਕਮਾਉਣਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ; (ਉਸ ਲੇਖ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ) ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਠਗਬੂਟੀ (ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ) ਮਿਲ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹਰੀ ਵਿੱਸਰ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਮਤੁ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਜੀਵਦਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਮੁਇਆਸੁ ॥ ਜਿਨੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਸੇ ਬਹਣਿ ਨ ਮਿਲਨੀ ਪਾਸਿ ॥  (ਉਸ) ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਊਂਦਾ ਨਾ ਸਮਝੋ (ਜੋ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਮੁਇਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ; ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਬਹਿਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ।

ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਬਹੁ ਅਤਿ ਘਣਾ ਪੁਤੁ ਕਲਤੁ ਨ ਸਾਥਿ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਸਿ ॥ ਲੋਕਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਮੁਹੁ ਕਾਲਾ ਹੋਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਉਭੇ ਸਾਸ ॥ ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਕੋ ਨ ਵਿਸਹੀ ਚੁਕਿ ਗਇਆ ਵੇਸਾਸੁ ॥ ਉਹ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਮੁਏ ਪਏ ਸਨ, ਉਹ) ਪੁੱਤ੍ਰ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਤਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਏਗਾ; ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਕਾਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ (ਭਾਵ, ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ) ਤੇ ਹਾਹੁਕੇ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ; ਮਨਮੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਸਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਤਬਾਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਅਗਲਾ ਜਿਨਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥੧॥  ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁਖ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।

ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਸੇ ਸੈਣ ਸੇ ਸਜਣਾ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਲਹਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋਏ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਪਾ ਨਿਵਾਰ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਭਾਵਿਕ ਹੀ) ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਭਲੇ ਲੋਕ ਹਨ ਤੇ (ਸਾਡੇ) ਸਾਥੀ ਹਨ; ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਹਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਾਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਲਗੇ ਸਜਣ ਨ ਆਖੀਅਹਿ ਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਵੇਕਾਰ ॥  ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖੀਦਾ ਜੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਆਪ ਸੁਆਰਥੀ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਨ ਸਕਹਿ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਤਲਬ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ (ਹੋਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਵਾਰ ਸਕਦੇ; (ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਕੀਹ ਦੋਸ਼?) (ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਕਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ (ਸੰਸਕਾਰ-ਰੂਪ ਲੇਖ) ਕਮਾਉਣਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਮਿਟਾਉਣ-ਜੋਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ।੧।

ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਕੈ ਆਪਿ ਖੇਲੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ॥ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਆਪਿ ਸਿਰਜਿਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਵਧਾਇਆ ॥

ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਰਚ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਖੇਡ ਬਣਾਈ ਹੈ; ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣ ਬਣਾਏ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਵਧਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

ਵਿਚਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇਆ ॥ ਜਿਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਸਮਝਾਇਆ ॥  (ਇਸ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਉਪਜੇ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ (ਲੱਗਿਆਂ) (ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ) ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਜੰਮਣਾ ਮਰਨਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ; ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਹਰੀ ਆਪ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਇਹ) ਸਮਝ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।

ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਘੁਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ 

(ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ) ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੩।

SHALOK, THIRD MEHL:

He acts according to pre-ordained destiny, written by the Creator Himself. Emotional attachment has drugged him, and he has forgotten the Lord, the treasure of virtue. Don’t think that he is alive in the world — he is dead, through the love of duality. Those who do not meditate on the Lord, as Gurmukh, are not permitted to sit near the Lord. They suffer the most horrible pain and suffering, and neither their sons nor their wives go along with them. Their faces are blackened among men, and they sigh in deep regret. No one places any reliance in the self-willed manmukhs; trust in them is lost. O Nanak, the Gurmukhs live in absolute peace; the Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides within them. || 1 || THIRD MEHL: They alone are relatives, and they alone are friends, who, as Gurmukh, join together in love. Night and day, they act according to the True Guru’s Will; they remain absorbed in the True Name. Those who are attached to the love of duality are not called friends; they practice egotism and corruption. The self-willed manmukhs are selfish; they cannot resolve anyone’s affairs. O Nanak, they act according to their pre-ordained destiny; no one can erase it. || 2 || PAUREE: You Yourself created the world, and You Yourself arranged the play of it. You Yourself created the three qualities, and fostered emotional attachment to Maya. He is called to account for his deeds done in egotism; he continues coming and going in reincarnation. The Guru instructs those whom the Lord Himself blesses with Grace. I am a sacrifice to my Guru; forever and ever, I am a sacrifice to Him. || 3||

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਾ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ ਹਮਰੀ ਬੇਦਨਿ ਤੂ ਜਾਨਤਾ ਸਾਹਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਕਿਆ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਤੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਆ ਸਚੁ ਸਭੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ ਝੂਠਾ ਕਿਸ ਕਉ ਆਖੀਐ ਸਾਹਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਸਭਨਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਤੂ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਸਾਹਾ ਸਭਿ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥ ਸਭਿ ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਥਾਵਹੁ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਾ ਤੂ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਇਕ ਦਾਤਿ ॥੨॥ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਾ ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ ਸਭਿ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਸਭਸ ਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਾ ਸਭਿ ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੩॥ ਸਭਨਾ ਕੀ ਤੂ ਆਸ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹ ॥ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਖੁ ਤੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੩॥

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ! ਮੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਕੀ ਜਾਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ! ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੈਂ। ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹ ਭੀ ਉਕਾਈ-ਹੀਣ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਊਣਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ) । ਹੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ! ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਝੂਠਾ ਆਖਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।੧।

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈਂ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ! ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ (ਮੰਗਾਂ) ਮੰਗਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਕ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ।੨।

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ! ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ, ਤੈਥੋਂ ਆਕੀ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ! ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਤੇ, ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੩।

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਸਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਰੱਖ। ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ।੪।੭।੧੩।

O my King, beholding the Blessed Vision of the Lord’s Darshan, I am at peace. You alone know my inner pain, O King; what can anyone else know? || Pause || O True Lord and Master, You are truly my King; whatever You do, all that is True. Who should I call a liar? There is no other than You, O King. || 1 || You are pervading and permeating in all; O King, everyone meditates on You, day and night. Everyone begs of You, O my King; You alone give gifts to all. || 2 || All are under Your Power, O my King; none at all are beyond You. All beings are Yours—You belong to all, O my King. All shall merge and be absorbed in You. || 3 || You are the hope of all, O my Beloved; all meditate on You, O my King. ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਪਰਥਾਇ ਸਾਖੀ ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਸਾਝੀ ਸਗਲ ਜਹਾਨੈ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਭਉ ਕਰੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨੈ ॥ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਕਿਆ ਕਥਹਿ ਗਿਆਨੈ ॥੧॥ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਨ ਲਾਇਓ ਅੰਤਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਹੁਤਾ ਆਇ ॥ ਅੰਦਰਹੁ ਬਾਹਰਹੁ ਅੰਧਿਆਂ ਸੁਧਿ ਨ ਕਾਈ ਪਾਇ ॥ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਬਰਕਤੀ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਖਾਇ ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ਪੰਡਿਤ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਨਾ ਧਨੁ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥ ਪੜਿ ਥਕੇ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਲਤ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥ ਕੂਕ ਪੂਕਾਰ ਨ ਚੁਕਈ ਨਾ ਸੰਸਾ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣਿਆ ਮੁਹਿ ਕਾਲੈ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥ ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣ ਮੇਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਪੰਥੁ ਦਸਾਈ ॥ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਦਸੇ ਮਿਤੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਹਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਝੀ ਤਿਨ ਸਿਉ ਕਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵੀ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਨਿਤ ਸੇਵਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੧੨॥ ਅਰਥ: ਮਹਾਂ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਵਿਚ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ (ਪਰ ਉਹ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਲਈ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਸੁਣ ਕੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਡਰ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਧਾਰਨ) ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ ਉਦਾਸ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਵਿਚ ਪਤੀਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਬਾਹਰ ਭਟਕਣੋਂ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ।ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਤੀਜਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।੧। SHALOK, THIRD MEHL:ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਹਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਮਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੋੜਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਦੁੱਖ ਵਾਪਰਦਾ ਹੈ; ਉਹਨਾਂ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਅੰਨਿ੍ਹਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ। (ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਹਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਮਿਲਾ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਰਾਹ ਪੁੱਛਾਂ। ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ (ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ) ਦੱਸੇ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਿਆਲੀ ਪਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹਰੀ ਸਿਮਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਸੁਖ ਲਵਾਂ।ਮੈਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ।੧੨।

Great men speak the teachings by relating them to individual situations, but the whole world shares in them. One who becomes Gurmukh knows the Fear of God, and realizes his own self. If, by Guru’s Grace, one remains dead while yet alive, the mind becomes content in itself. Those who have no faith in their own minds, O Nanak — how can they speak of spiritual wisdom? || 1 || THIRD MEHL: Those who do not focus their consciousness on the Lord, as Gurmukh, suffer pain and grief in the end. They are blind, inwardly and outwardly, and they do not understand anything. O Pandit, O religious scholar, the whole world is fed for the sake of those who are attuned to the Lord’s Name. Those who praise the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, remain blended with the Lord. O Pandit, O religious scholar, no one is satisfied, and no one finds true wealth through the love of duality. They have grown weary of reading scriptures, but still, they do not find contentment, and they pass their lives burning, night and day. Their cries and complaints never end, and doubt does not depart from within them. O Nanak, without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, they rise up and depart with blackened faces. || 2 || PAUREE: O Beloved, lead me to meet my True Friend; meeting with Him, I shall ask Him to show me the Path. I am a sacrifice to that Friend, who shows it to me. I share His Virtues with Him, and meditate on the Lord’s Name. I serve my Beloved Lord forever; serving the Lord, I have found peace. I am a sacrifice to the True Guru, who has imparted this understanding to me. || 12 ||

  ਬਾਰਹ ਮਾਹਾ ਮਾਂਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੪ ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ਕਤਿਕਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਣੇ ਦੋਸੁ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਜੋਗੁ ॥ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਤੇ ਭੁਲਿਆਂ ਵਿਆਪਨਿ ਸਭੇ ਰੋਗ ॥ ਵੇਮੁਖ ਹੋਏ ਰਾਮ ਤੇ ਲਗਨਿ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਜੋਗ ॥ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਉੜੇ ਹੋਇ ਗਏ ਜਿਤੜੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਭੋਗ ॥ ਵਿਚੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਕਰਿ ਸਕੈ ਕਿਸ ਥੈ ਰੋਵਹਿ ਰੋਜ ॥ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਸੰਜੋਗ ॥ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਬਿਓਗ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਬੰਦੀ ਮੋਚ ॥ ਕਤਿਕ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਬਿਨਸਹਿ ਸਭੇ ਸੋਚ ॥੯॥ 

ਅਰਥ: ਕੱਤਕ (ਦੀ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਰੁੱਤ) ਵਿਚ (ਭੀ ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਆਪਣੇ) ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਟਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਦੋਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਪਰਮੇਸਰ (ਦੀ ਯਾਦ) ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝਿਆਂ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ (ਇਸ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਮੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਫਿਰ) ਲੰਮੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜੇਹੜੀਆਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੌਜਾਂ (ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਭੀ) ਇਕ ਪਲ ਵਿਚ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, (ਉਸ ਦੁਖੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿਚ) ਕਿਸੇ ਪਾਸ ਭੀ ਨਿਤ ਰੋਣੇ ਰੋਣ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਦੁੱਖ ਤਾਂ ਹੈ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ, ਤੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਕੋਈ ਵਿਚੋਲਾ-ਪਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ। (ਦੁਖੀ ਜੀਵ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ) ਕੋਈ ਪੇਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ, (ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਧੁਰੋਂ ਹੀ ਲਿਖੇ ਲੇਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਿਧ ਆ ਬਣਦੀ ਹੈ। (ਹਾਂ!) ਜੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਆਪ) ਆ ਮਿਲੇ, ਤਾਂ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

(ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਤਾਂ ਇਹੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ–) ਹੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਛੁਡਾਵਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈ।

ਕੱਤਕ (ਦੀ ਸੁਆਦਲੀ ਰੁੱਤ) ਵਿਚ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ (ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਵਾਲੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਝੋਰੇ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।9।

BAARAH MAAHAA ~ THE TWELVE MONTHS: MAAJH, FIFTH MEHL, FOURTH HOUSE:

ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:

In the month of Katak, do good deeds. Do not try to blame anyone else. Forgetting the Transcendent Lord, all sorts of illnesses are contracted. Those who turn their backs on the Lord shall be separated from Him and consigned to reincarnation, over and over again. In an instant, all of Maya’s sensual pleasures turn bitter. No one can then serve as your intermediary. Unto whom can we turn and cry? By one’s own actions, nothing can be done; destiny was pre-determined from the very beginning. By great good fortune, I meet my God, and then all pain of separation departs. Please protect Nanak, God; O my Lord and Master, please release me from bondage. In Katak, in the Company of the Holy, all anxiety vanishes. || 9 ||

 

ਰਾਗੁ ਧਨਾਸਿਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ਘਰੁ ੪    ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ਹਮ ਭੀਖਕ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਨਿਜ ਪਤਿ ਹੈ ਦਾਤਾ ॥ ਹੋਹੁ ਦੈਆਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਮੰਗਤ ਜਨ ਕੰਉ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਉ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਹੰਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ਸਾਚੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਟਹੁ ॥ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਏਕੋ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਫੇਰ ਪਏ ਕਿਰਪਨ ਕਉ ਅਬ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਜੈ ॥ ਹੋਹੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਐਸੀ ਬਖਸ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥੨॥ ਭਨਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਰਮ ਪਟ ਖੂਲ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥ ਸਾਚੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ਹੈ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥੩॥੧॥੯॥  ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈਂ; ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ (ਤੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ (ਦਰ ਦੇ) ਮੰਗਤੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸੁਤੰਤਰ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੰਗਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੇਹ (ਤਾ ਕਿ) ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ।੧। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਨੂੰ (ਹੁਣ ਤਕ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਗੇੜ ਪੈ ਚੁਕੇ ਹਨ, ਹੁਣ ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ। ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼।੨। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਭਰਮ ਦੇ ਪਰਦੇ ਖੁਲ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ) ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਲਗਨ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਤੀਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੩।੧।੯। RAAG DHANAASAREE, THIRD MEHL, FOURTH HOUSE:

ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:

I am just a poor beggar of Yours; You are Your Own Lord Master, You are the Great Giver. Be Merciful, and bless me, a humble beggar, with Your Name, so that I may forever remain imbued with Your Love. || 1 || I am a sacrifice to Your Name, O True Lord. The One Lord is the Cause of causes; there is no other at all. || 1 || Pause || I was wretched; I wandered through so many cycles of reincarnation. Now, Lord, please bless me with Your Grace. Be merciful, and grant me the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan; please grant me such a gift. || 2 || Prays Nanak, the shutters of doubt have been opened wide; by Guru’s Grace, I have come to know the Lord. I am filled to overflowing with true love; my mind is pleased and appeased by the True Guru. || 3 || 1 || 9 ||

 

ਜੈਤਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੨ ਛੰਤ    ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥  ਸਲੋਕ ॥ ਸੰਤ ਉਧਰਣ ਦਇਆਲੰ ਆਸਰੰ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਕੀਰਤਨਹ ॥ ਨਿਰਮਲੰ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗੇਣ ਓਟ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰਹ ॥੧॥ ਚੰਦਨ ਚੰਦੁ ਨ ਸਰਦ ਰੁਤਿ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਮਿਟਈ ਘਾਂਮ ॥ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਥੀਵੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਪੰਦੜੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੨॥ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਉਧਰੇ ਸਗਲ ਜਨ ॥ ਸੁਣਿ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਮਨ ॥ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਮੂਲਿ ਸੰਚਿਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨ ॥ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਸਿਉ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਡੈ ਪੁਨ ॥ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਨਿਤ ਸੁਨ ॥੧੭॥  ਅਰਥ: ਜੋ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਗੋਪਾਲ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਦਿਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਦਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜ।੧। ਭਾਵੇਂ ਚੰਦਨ (ਦਾ ਲੇਪ ਕੀਤਾ) ਹੋਵੇ ਚਾਹੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ (ਦੀ ਚਾਨਣੀ) ਹੋਵੇ, ਤੇ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਠੰਢੀ ਰੁੱਤ ਹੋਵੇ-ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਮਿਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਦਾ ਮਨ) ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੨। :ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ (ਬੰਦਗੀ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਨਿਡਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਧਨ ਵਿਚ ਕਦੇ ਘਾਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ। ਅਜੇਹੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬੜੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਜਸ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ।੧੭। SHALOK:

The Merciful Lord is the Savior of the Saints; their only support is to sing the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises. One becomes immaculate and pure, by associating with the Saints, O Nanak, and taking the Protection of the Transcendent Lord. || 1 || The burning of the heart is not dispelled at all, by sandalwood paste, the moon, or the cold season. It only becomes cool, O Nanak, by chanting the Name of the Lord. || 2 || PAUREE: Through the Protection and Support of the Lord’s lotus feet, all beings are saved. Hearing of the Glory of the Lord of the Universe, the mind becomes fearless. Nothing at all is lacking, when one gathers the wealth of the Naam. The Society of the Saints is obtained, by very good deeds. Twenty-four hours a day, meditate on the Lord, and listen continually to the Lord’s Praises. || 17 ||

 

ਬਿਲਾਵਲ ਕੀ ਵਾਰ ਮਹਲਾ ੪    ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੪ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਉਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਗਾਵਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਨਾਦੁ ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਰਾਗੁ ॥ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਣਿ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਭਾਗੁ ॥ ਸਭ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੁ ॥ ਸਭੁ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਹਰਿਆ ਬਾਗੁ ॥ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਚਰਾਗੁ ॥ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜੀਵੈ ਦੇਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਘੜੀ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਗੁ ॥੧॥ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਕੀਜੀਐ ਜਬ ਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਮੁ ॥ ਰਾਗ ਨਾਦ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਜਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥ ਰਾਗ ਨਾਦ ਛੋਡਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਤਾ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਾਨੁ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀਐ ਚੂਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥੨॥ ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਤੂ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ਅਗੰਮੁ ਹੈ ਸਭਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥ ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਈਐ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਭਗਤਹੁ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇਆ ॥ ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਧੁਰ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਾਗ ਹੈ, (ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਲੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ ਉੱਘੜਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ-ਰੂਪ ਬਿਲਾਵਲ ਰਾਗ ਉਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਰਾ ਦਿਨ ਤੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਰਾਤ (ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਤਨ ਸਾਰਾ ਮਨ ਹਰਾ-ਭਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਰਸ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) , ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ (ਇਉਂ) ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਹਰਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਬਾਗ਼ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਦੀਵਾ ਰੌਸ਼ਨੀ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ (ਦਾ) ਹਨੇਰਾ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰਾ) ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ (ਅਜੇਹੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ, ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਭਾਵੇਂ ਇਕ ਪਲ-ਭਰ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਹੋਵੇ।੧। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰਨ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਮਾਣਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਰਾਗ ਤੇ ਨਾਦ (ਭੀ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਦੋਂ (ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ) ਸੁਰਤਿ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੰਸਾਰਕ) ਰਾਗ ਰੰਗ (ਦਾ ਰਸ) ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਦਰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-) ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈਏ, ਤਾਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।  ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ) ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈਂ। (ਇਹ ਜੋ) ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ (ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ) ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ! ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਸਮਾਧੀ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਲਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਗੁਣ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਗਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਿਆ ਕਰੋ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ ਬਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ (ਭੀ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਹੀ) ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧। VAAR OF BILAAVAL, FOURTH MEHL:

ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:

SHALOK, FOURTH MEHL: I sing of the sublime Lord, the Lord God, in the melody of Raag Bilaaval. Hearing the Guru’s Teachings, I obey them; this is the pre-ordained destiny written upon my forehead. All day and night, I chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har, Har; within my heart, I am lovingly attuned to Him. My body and mind are totally rejuvenated, and the garden of my mind has blossomed forth in lush abundance. The darkness of ignorance has been dispelled, with the light of the lamp of the Guru’s wisdom. Servant Nanak lives by beholding the Lord. Let me behold Your face, for a moment, even an instant! || 1 || THIRD MEHL: Be happy and sing in Bilaaval, when the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is in your mouth. The melody and music, and the Word of the Shabad are beautiful, when one focuses his meditation on the celestial Lord. So leave behind the melody and music, and serve the Lord; then, you shall obtain honor in the Court of the Lord. O Nanak, as Gurmukh, contemplate God, and rid your mind of egotistical pride. || 2 || PAUREE: O Lord God, You Yourself are inaccessible; You formed everything. You Yourself are totally permeating and pervading the entire universe. You Yourself are absorbed in the state of deep meditation; You Yourself sing Your Glorious Praises. Meditate on the Lord, O devotees, day and night; He shall deliver you in the end. Those who serve the Lord, find peace; they are absorbed in the Name of the Lord. || 1 ||

 ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਕੋਟਿ ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ॥ ਰਿਧਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਸੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ॥ ਅਨਿਕ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ਭੋਗ ਰਸੈ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਮਖ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸੈ ॥੧॥ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਸੂਰਬੀਰ ਧੀਰਜ ਮਤਿ ਪੂਰਾ ॥ ਸਹਜ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਧੁਨਿ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰਾ ॥ ਸਦਾ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਕਾਮ ॥ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ॥੨॥ ਸਗਲ ਸੂਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਅਰੋਗ ॥ ਸਮਦਰਸੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਨਿਰਜੋਗ ॥ ਆਇ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਡੋਲੈ ਕਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਸੈ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥੩॥ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਗਪਾਲ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਉਤਰੈ ਚਿੰਦ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਨਾਮੁ ॥ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਟਹਲ ਸੰਤ ਕਾ ਕਾਮੁ ॥੪॥੧੫॥੨੬॥ 

ਅਰਥ: (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ਦੱਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਅੱਖ ਦੇ ਫੋਰ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭੀ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਰੂਪਾਂ ਰੰਗਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਕ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੂਝ-ਬੂਝ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ (ਉੱਚੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ) ਉਹ ਰਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਸਿੱਧੀਆਂ (ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ; ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜਪਾਂ ਤਪਾਂ (ਦਾ ਫਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ) ਸੂਰਮਾ ਹੈ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਹੈ, ਪੂਰੀ ਅਕਲ ਅਤੇ ਧੀਰਜ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਲਗਨ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੨।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕਿਤੇ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਕਿਤੇ ਡੋਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ) ਪੂਰੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ (ਮਾਨਸਕ) ਰੋਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੩।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ, ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ (ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੀ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ (ਦੱਸਿਆ) ਕੰਮ ਹੈ।੪।੧੫।੨੬।

Raamkalee, Fifth Mehla:

Millions of meditations and austerities rest in him,

along with wealth, wisdom, miraculous spiritual powers and angelic spiritual insight.

He enjoys the various shows and forms, pleasures and delicacies;

the Naam, the Name of the Lord, dwells within the heart of the Gurmukh. ||1||

Such is the glorious greatness of the Name of the Lord.

Its value cannot be described. ||1||Pause||

He alone is brave, patient and perfectly wise;

he is intuitively in Samaadhi, profound and unfathomable.

He is liberated forever and all his affairs are perfectly resolved;

the Lord's Name abides within his heart. ||2||

He is totally peaceful, blissful and healthy;

he looks upon all impartially, and is perfectly detached.

He does not come and go, and he never wavers;

the Naam abides in his mind. ||3||

God is Merciful to the meek; He is the Lord of the World, the Lord of the Universe.

The Gurmukh meditates on Him, and his worries are gone.

The Guru has blessed Nanak with the Naam;

he serves the Saints, and works for the Saints. ||4||15||26||
