ਆਸਾ ॥ ਕਾਹੂ ਦੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ਪਾਟ ਪਟੰਬਰ ਕਾਹੂ ਪਲਘ ਨਿਵਾਰਾ ॥ ਕਾਹੂ ਗਰੀ ਗੋਦਰੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਾਹੂ ਖਾਨ ਪਰਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਅਹਿਰਖ ਵਾਦੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ਰੇ ਮਨ ॥ ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਲੀਜੈ ਰੇ ਮਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਕੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੈ ਏਕ ਜੁ ਮਾਟੀ ਗੂੰਧੀ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਬਾਨੀ ਲਾਈ ॥ ਕਾਹੂ ਮਹਿ ਮੋਤੀ ਮੁਕਤਾਹਲ ਕਾਹੂ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਲਗਾਈ ॥੨॥ ਸੂਮਹਿ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਖਨ ਕਉ ਦੀਆ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਕਹੈ ਧਨੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਡੰਡੁ ਮੂੰਡ ਮਹਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰੈ ਨਿਬੇਰਾ ॥੩॥ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਊਤਮੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਸਦਾਵੈ ਆਗਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥ ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੈ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥੪॥ ਕਹੈ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਝੂਠੀ ॥ ਚਿਰਗਟ ਫਾਰਿ ਚਟਾਰਾ ਲੈ ਗਇਓ ਤਰੀ ਤਾਗਰੀ ਛੂਟੀ ॥੫॥੩॥੧੬॥

(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ) ਕਈ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੇਸ਼ਮ ਦੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ (ਪਾਣ ਨੂੰ) ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਪਲੰਘ (ਸੌਣ ਨੂੰ) ; ਪਰ ਕਈ (ਵਿਚਾਰਿਆਂ) ਨੂੰ ਗਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਜੁੱਲੀ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ, ਤੇ ਕਈ ਘਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਬਿਸਤਰੇ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ) ਪਰਾਲੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ।1।

(ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਈਰਖਾ ਤੇ ਝਗੜਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ? ਨੇਕ ਕਮਾਈ ਕਰੀ ਜਾਹ ਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਭੀ (ਇਹ ਸੁਖ) ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈ।1। ਰਹਾਉ।

ਘੁਮਿਆਰ ਨੇ ਇਕੋ ਹੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਗੁੰਨ੍ਹੀ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਕਈ ਵੰਨਗੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ)। ਕਿਸੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਵਿਚ ਮੋਤੀ ਤੇ ਮੋਤੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਾਲਾਂ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ) ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਚ (ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਆਦਿਕ) ਰੋਗ ਲਾਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ।2।

ਸ਼ੂਮ ਨੂੰ ਧਨ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੈ, (ਅਤੇ) ਮੂਰਖ (ਸ਼ੂਮ) ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ– ਇਹ ਧਨ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੈ। (ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ) ਜਮ ਦਾ ਡੰਡਾ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਆ ਵੱਜਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਇਕ ਪਲਕ ਵਿਚ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਧਨ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ)।3।

ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ (ਬਣ ਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ) ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਨੇਕ ਭਗਤ ਸਦਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) , ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਠੀਕ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।4।

ਕਬੀਰ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ– ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਸੁਣੋ, "ਇਹ ਧਨ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਆਦਿਕ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੈ" = ਇਹ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਕੂੜਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਪਣੱਤ ਸਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦੀ) ; (ਜਿਵੇਂ, ਜੇ) ਪਿੰਜਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਾੜ ਕੇ (ਕੋਈ ਬਿੱਲਾ) ਚਿੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਏ ਤਾਂ (ਉਸ ਪਿੰਜਰੇ-ਪਏ ਪੰਛੀ ਦੀ) ਕੁੱਜੀ ਤੇ ਠੂਠੀ ਧਰੀ ਹੀ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਤਿਵੇਂ, ਮੌਤ ਆਇਆਂ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੇ ਖਾਣ-ਪੀਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਇਥੇ ਹੀ ਧਰੇ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ)।5।3। 16।

(God) has given many men silk clothes (to drink) and comfortable beds (to sleep) ; But many (thoughts) do not even get a worn cobweb, and in many houses there is only straw (instead of a bed). 1.

(But) O mind! Why do you quarrel with jealousy? Earn good things and you too will get (this happiness). 1. stay

The potter kneaded the same clay and applied different colors to it (ie, made different types of vessels). (Man) put pearls and pearl goods in some vessel and disease-causing things (alcohol etc.) in another. 2.

Miser is attached to keep wealth, (and) the fool (Shum) says – This wealth is mine. (But when) Jam's stick hits his head, then he decides in a blink of an eye (that in fact this money does not belong to anyone). 3.

A person who is a servant of God, he enjoys happiness by obeying the command of God and is a good devotee in the world (meaning, brings glory), the will of the Lord dwells in his mind, he who loves the Lord is the same. 4.

Kabir says – O saints! Hear, "This wealth, material, etc. is mine" = this thought is rubbish (ie, an immaturity with worldly material cannot last forever) ; (For example, if) the cage is torn open and (a cat) takes away the sparrow, then (the caged bird's) hooves and beak are left behind. are left).5.3. 16.

ਜਪਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਲਾਲੁ ॥ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਤੂ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਨ ਖਾਈ ਮਹਾ ਕਾਲੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਆਇਓ ॥ ਬਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥ ਬਾਬਾ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਆਖੈ ਏਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੨॥੧੧॥

ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੋਬਿੰਦ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ, ਸੋਹਣੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ । ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ, (ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰੇਂਗਾ) ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹੇਗਾ । ਭਿਆਨਕ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ (ਤੇਰੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ) ਫਿਰ ਕਦੇ ਮੁਕਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕੇਗੀ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ) ਕੋ੍ਰੜਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕ ਕੇ (ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ) ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ, (ਤੇ, ਇਥੇ) ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ।੧।ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਨਕ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ-ਉਤਾਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ।੨।੧੧।

RAAMKALEE, FIFTH MEHL:

Meditate on the Lord of the Universe, the Beloved Lord of the World. Meditating in remembrance on the Lords Name, you shall live, and the Great Death shall not consume you ever again. || 1 || Pause || Through millions of incarnations, you have come, wandering, wandering, wandering. By the highest destiny, you found the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. Without the Perfect Guru, no one is saved. This is what Baba Nanak says, after deep reflection. || 2 || 11 ||

 ਅਸੁਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਉਮਾਹੜਾ ਕਿਉ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪਿਆਸ ਦਰਸਨ ਘਣੀ ਕੋਈ ਆਣਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਮਾਇ ॥ ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੇ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਲਾਗਾ ਪਾਇ ॥ ਵਿਣੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਦੂਜੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਜਿੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸੁ ਸੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਰਹੇ ਆਘਾਇ ॥ ਆਪੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਕਰਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ॥ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੰਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਈਆ ਸਿ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਵਿਣੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥ ਅਸੂ ਸੁਖੀ ਵਸੰਦੀਆ ਜਿਨਾ ਮਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥੮॥ 

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਮਾਂ! (ਭਾਦਰੋਂ ਦੇ ਘੁੰਮੇ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਾਟਕੇ ਲੰਘਣ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ) ਅੱਸੂ (ਦੀ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਰੁੱਤ) ਵਿਚ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ) ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ ਉਛਾਲਾ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ (ਮਨ ਤੜਫਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੱਲ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾਂ। ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਤਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੀ ਬੜੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ (ਚਿੱਤ ਲੋਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਕੋਈ (ਉਸ ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ) ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਮੇਲ ਕਰਾ ਦੇਵੇ। (ਇਹ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਕਿ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਧਾਣ ਵਿਚ ਸਹੈਤਾ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗੀ ਹਾਂ। (ਹੇ ਮਾਂ!) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸੁਖ-ਆਨੰਦ ਦੀ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ।

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ (ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀਆਂ) ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ (ਇਕ ਵਾਰੀ) ਚੱਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮਾਇਆ ਵੱਲੋਂ) ਉਹ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਅਰਦਾਸਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ– ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੜ ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖ।

ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਖਸਮ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਉਸ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਵਿੱਛੁੜ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਸਚਾ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਸੁਖ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਅੱਸੂ (ਦੀ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਰੁੱਤ) ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਸੁਖ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।8।

BAARAH MAAHAA ~ THE TWELVE MONTHS: MAAJH, FIFTH MEHL, FOURTH HOUSE: ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU: In the month of Assu, my love for the Lord overwhelms me. How can I go and meet the Lord? My mind and body are so thirsty for the Blessed Vision of His Darshan. Won’t someone please come and lead me to him, O my mother. The Saints are the helpers of the Lord’s lovers; I fall and touch their feet. Without God, how can I find peace? There is nowhere else to go. Those who have tasted the sublime essence of His Love, remain satisfied and fulfilled. They renounce their selfishness and conceit, and they pray, “God, please attach me to the hem of Your robe.” Those whom the Husband Lord has united with Himself, shall not be separated from Him again. Without God, there is no other at all. Nanak has entered the Sanctuary of the Lord. In Assu, the Lord, the Sovereign King, has granted His Mercy, and they dwell in peace. || 8 ||

 ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੨ ਅਸਟਪਦੀਆ    ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ਪਾਠੁ ਪੜਿਓ ਅਰੁ ਬੇਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਓ ਨਿਵਲਿ ਭੁਅੰਗਮ ਸਾਧੇ ॥ ਪੰਚ ਜਨਾ ਸਿਉ ਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਛੁਟਕਿਓ ਅਧਿਕ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਬਾਧੇ ॥੧॥ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਿਲਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਮੈ ਕੀਏ ਕਰਮ ਅਨੇਕਾ ॥ ਹਾਰਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕੈ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਦੀਜੈ ਬੁਧਿ ਬਿਬੇਕਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਮੋਨਿ ਭਇਓ ਕਰਪਾਤੀ ਰਹਿਓ ਨਗਨ ਫਿਰਿਓ ਬਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥ ਤਟ ਤੀਰਥ ਸਭ ਧਰਤੀ ਭ੍ਰਮਿਓ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਛੁਟਕੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੨॥ ਮਨ ਕਾਮਨਾ ਤੀਰਥ ਜਾਇ ਬਸਿਓ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਰਵਤ ਧਰਾਏ ॥ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਜੇ ਲਖ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਾਏ ॥੩॥ ਕਨਿਕ ਕਾਮਿਨੀ ਹੈਵਰ ਗੈਵਰ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਦਾਤਾਰਾ ॥ ਅੰਨ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਭੂਮਿ ਬਹੁ ਅਰਪੇ ਨਹ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥੪॥

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੇਦ (ਆਦਿਕ ਧਰਮ-ਪੁਸਤਕ ਨੂੰ) ਪੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿਵਲੀਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਕੁੰਡਲਨੀ ਨਾੜੀ ਰਸਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਚਾੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਪਰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਪੰਜਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਸਾਥ ਮੁੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। (ਸਗੋਂ) ਵਧੀਕ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਬੱਝ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰੇ ਵੇਖਦਿਆਂ ਲੋਕ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ (ਮਿਥੇ ਹੋਏ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ) ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆ ਡਿੱਗਾ ਹਾਂ (ਤੇ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭਲਾਈ ਬੁਰਾਈ ਦੀ) ਪਰਖ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਕਲ ਦੇਹ।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਚੁੱਪ ਸਾਧੀ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਕਰ-ਪਾਤੀ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ (ਭਾਂਡਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਹੀ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੈ) , ਕੋਈ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਨੰਗਾ ਤੁਰਿਆ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਰੇ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਟਨ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਭ੍ਰਮਣ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, (ਪਰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭੀ) ਮਨ ਦੀ ਡਾਂਵਾਂ-ਡੋਲ ਹਾਲਤ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਨੋ-ਕਾਮਨਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਾ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ, (ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਚਾਹਵਾਨ ਆਪਣੇ) ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ (ਸ਼ਿਵ ਜੀ ਵਾਲਾ) ਆਰਾ ਰਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ, ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਚਿਰਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) । ਪਰ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ) ਲੱਖਾਂ ਹੀ ਜਤਨ ਕਰੇ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭੀ ਮਨ ਦੀ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਹਿੰਦੀ।੩।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੋਨਾ, ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ, ਵਧੀਆ ਘੋੜੇ, ਵਧੀਆ ਹਾਥੀ (ਅਤੇ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ) ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅੰਨ ਦਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੱਪੜੇ ਦਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜ਼ਿਮੀਂ ਦਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕੀਦਾ।੪।ਪੂਜਾ ਅਰਚਾ ਬੰਦਨ ਡੰਡਉਤ ਖਟੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਰਤੁ ਰਹਤਾ ॥ ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰਤ ਬੰਧਨ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਿਆ ਨਹ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਇਹ ਜੁਗਤਾ ॥੫॥ ਜੋਗ ਸਿਧ ਆਸਣ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਏ ਭੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ॥ ਵਡੀ ਆਰਜਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜਨਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਗਹਿਆ ॥੬॥ ਰਾਜ ਲੀਲਾ ਰਾਜਨ ਕੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਕਰਿਆ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਅਫਾਰਾ ॥ ਸੇਜ ਸੋਹਨੀ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਚੋਆ ਨਰਕ ਘੋਰ ਕਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥੭॥ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਹੈ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਰਮਨ ਕੈ ਕਰਮਾ ॥ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਇਓ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਪੁਰਬ ਲਿਖੇ ਕਾ ਲਹਨਾ ॥੮॥ ਤੇਰੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਇਹ ਰੰਗਿ ਮਾਤਾ ॥ ਭਇਓ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧॥੩॥ 

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇਵ-ਪੂਜਾ ਵਿਚ, ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਡੰਡਉਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਿਚ, ਛੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਉਹ ਭੀ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਮਿੱਥੇ ਹੋਏ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਮੀ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜਕੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੀਦਾ।੫।

ਜੋਗ-ਮਤ ਵਿਚ ਸਿੱਧਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਆਸਣ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਆਸਣ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਥੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਮਰ ਤਾਂ ਲੰਮੀ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਦਾ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੬।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕਈ ਐਸੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਰਾਜ-ਹਕੂਮਤ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਠਾਠ-ਬਾਠ ਬਣਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਲੋਕਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਚਲਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕੋਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। ਸੁੰਦਰ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੀ ਸੇਜ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਉਤੇ) ਚੰਦਨ ਤੇ ਅਤਰ ਵਰਤਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਤਾਂ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਨਰਕ ਵਲ ਲੈ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।੭।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ-ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ। ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਇਹ ਅਵਸਰ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੮।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੇਰਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਦੀਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ।੧।੩।

ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:

They read scriptures, and contemplate the Vedas; they practice the inner cleansing techniques of Yoga, and control of the breath. But they cannot escape from the company of the five passions; they are increasingly bound to egotism. || 1 || O Beloved, this is not the way to meet the Lord; I have performed these rituals so many times. I have collapsed, exhausted, at the Door of my Lord Master; I pray that He may grant me a discerning intellect. || Pause || One may remain silent and use his hands as begging bowls, and wander naked in the forest. He may make pilgrimages to river banks and sacred shrines all over the world, but his sense of duality will not leave him. || 2 || His mind’s desires may lead him to go and dwell at sacred places of pilgrimage, and offer his head to be sawn off; but this will not cause the filth of his mind to depart, even though he may make thousands of efforts. || 3 || He may give gifts of all sorts — gold, women, horses and elephants. He may make offerings of corn, clothes and land in abundance, but this will not lead him to the Lord’s Door. || 4 || He may remain devoted to worship and adoration, bowing his forehead to the floor, practicing the six religious rituals. He indulges in egotism and pride, and falls into entanglements, but he does not meet the Lord by these devices. || 5 || He practices the eighty-four postures of Yoga, and acquires the supernatural powers of the Siddhas, but he gets tired of practicing these. He lives a long life, but is reincarnated again and again; he has not met with the Lord. || 6 || He may enjoy princely pleasures, and regal pomp and ceremony, and issue unchallenged commands. He may lie on beautiful beds, perfumed with sandalwood oil, but this will led him only to the gates of the most horrible hell. || 7 || Singing the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, is the highest of all actions. Says Nanak, he alone obtains it, who is pre-destined to receive it. || 8 || Your slave is intoxicated with this Love of Yours. The Destroyer of the pains of the poor has become merciful to me, and this mind is imbued with the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. || Second Pause || 1 || 3||

 ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥ ਇਛਾ ਪੂਰਕੁ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਕਾਮਧੇਨਾ ॥ ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀਅੜੇ ਤਾ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥ ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਨਿਤ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਜਹ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਭਇਆ ਤਹ ਉਪਾਧਿ ਗਤੁ ਕੀਨੀ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਨਾ ॥ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਦੀਨੀ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰਨਾ ॥੨॥੬॥੧੨॥ 

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਖੱਟ ਲਈਦੀ ਹੈ।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਹਰੀ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕਾਮਨਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ (ਸ੍ਵਰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਮਝੀ ਗਈ) ਕਾਮਧੇਨ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਅਜੇਹੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ) ਤਦੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਏਂਗਾ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਝਗੜਾ-ਬਖੇੜਾ ਚਾਲੇ ਪਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਫਿਰ ਭੀ) ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ (ਤਾਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।੬।੧੨।

Dhanaasaree, Fourth Mehl:

The Lord is the Fulfiller of desires, the Giver of total peace; the Kaamadhaynaa, the wish-fulfilling cow, is in His power.

So meditate on such a Lord, O my soul. Then, you shall obtain total peace, O my mind. ||1||

Chant, O my mind, the True Name, Sat Naam, the True Name.

In this world, and in the world beyond, your face shall be radiant, by meditating continually on the immaculate Lord God. ||Pause||

Wherever anyone remembers the Lord in meditation, disaster runs away from that place. By great good fortune, we meditate on the Lord.

The Guru has blessed servant Nanak with this understanding, that by meditating on the Lord, we cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||2||6||12||

 

ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਘਰੁ ੬    ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ਉਜਲੁ ਕੈਹਾ ਚਿਲਕਣਾ ਘੋਟਿਮ ਕਾਲੜੀ ਮਸੁ ॥ ਧੋਤਿਆ ਜੂਠਿ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਜੇ ਸਉ ਧੋਵਾ ਤਿਸੁ ॥੧॥ ਸਜਣ ਸੇਈ ਨਾਲਿ ਮੈ ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ਚਲੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥ ਜਿਥੈ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਤਿਥੈ ਖੜੇ ਦਿਸੰਨਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਕੋਠੇ ਮੰਡਪ ਮਾੜੀਆ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਚਿਤਵੀਆਹਾ ॥ ਢਠੀਆ ਕੰਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਸਖਣੀਆਹਾ ॥੨॥ ਬਗਾ ਬਗੇ ਕਪੜੇ ਤੀਰਥ ਮੰਝਿ ਵਸੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥ ਘੁਟਿ ਘੁਟਿ ਜੀਆ ਖਾਵਣੇ ਬਗੇ ਨਾ ਕਹੀਅਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥੩॥ ਸਿੰਮਲ ਰੁਖੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਮੈ ਮੈਜਨ ਦੇਖਿ ਭੁਲੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥ ਸੇ ਫਲ ਕੰਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਤੇ ਗੁਣ ਮੈ ਤਨਿ ਹੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥੪॥ ਅੰਧੁਲੈ ਭਾਰੁ ਉਠਾਇਆ ਡੂਗਰ ਵਾਟ ਬਹੁਤੁ ॥ ਅਖੀ ਲੋੜੀ ਨਾ ਲਹਾ ਹਉ ਚੜਿ ਲੰਘਾ ਕਿਤੁ ॥੫॥ ਚਾਕਰੀਆ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆ ਅਵਰ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕਿਤੁ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਤੂੰ ਬਧਾ ਛੁਟਹਿ ਜਿਤੁ ॥੬॥੧॥੩॥  ਅਰਥ: ਮੈਂ ਕੈਂਹ (ਦਾ) ਸਾਫ਼ ਤੇ ਲਿਸ਼ਕਵਾਂ (ਭਾਂਡਾ) ਘਸਾਇਆ (ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਮਾੜੀ ਮਾੜੀ ਕਾਲੀ ਸਿਆਹੀ (ਲੱਗ ਗਈ) । ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਸੌ ਵਾਰੀ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਕੈਂਹ ਦੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਨੂੰ ਧੋਵਾਂ (ਸਾਫ਼ ਕਰਾਂ) ਤਾਂ ਭੀ (ਬਾਹਰੋਂ) ਧੋਣ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਅੰਦਰਲੀ) ਜੂਠ (ਕਾਲਖ) ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।੧। ਮੇਰੇ ਅਸਲ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਉਹੀ ਹਨ ਜੋ (ਸਦਾ) ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿਣ, ਤੇ (ਇਥੋਂ) ਤੁਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਭੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਚੱਲਣ, (ਅਗਾਂਹ) ਜਿਥੇ (ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ) ਹਿਸਾਬ ਮੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਥੇ ਅਝੱਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਦੇ ਸਕਣ (ਭਾਵ, ਹਿਸਾਬ ਦੇਣ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਸਕਣ) ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। ਜੇਹੜੇ ਘਰ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਹਲ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਪਾਸਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਤਾਂ ਚਿੱਤਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਣ, ਪਰ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ ਹੋਣ, (ਉਹ ਢਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ) ਢੱਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ।੨। ਬਗਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਟੇ ਖੰਭ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਵੱਸਦੇ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਹੀ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਗਲੋਂ) ਘੁੱਟ ਘੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਖਾ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ (ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਸਾਫ਼ ਸੁਥਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ।੩। (ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਸਿੰਬਲ ਦਾ ਰੁੱਖ (ਹੈ ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਮੇਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਹੈ, (ਸਿੰਬਲ ਦੇ ਫਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਤੋਤੇ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਖਾ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਸਿੰਬਲ ਦੇ) ਉਹ ਫਲ (ਤੋਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ) ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ, ਉਹੋ ਜੇਹੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ।੪। ਮੈਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਨੇ (ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ) ਭਾਰ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, (ਅਗਾਂਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ-ਪੰਧ) ਬੜਾ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਰਸਤਾ ਹੈ। ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਲਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ ਰਾਹ-ਖਹਿੜਾ ਲੱਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿਚ) ਕਿਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ (ਪਹਾੜੀ ਤੇ) ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂ?।੫। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਹਾੜੀ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਰਗੇ ਬਿਖੜੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਪੰਧ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣ ਲਈ) ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ਾਮਦਾਂ, ਲੋਕ-ਵਿਖਾਵੇ ਤੇ ਚਲਾਕੀਆਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਸਾਂਭ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ। (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਬੱਝਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਨਾਮ (-ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ (ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾ ਸਕੇਂਗਾ।੯।੧।੩। SOOHEE, FIRST MEHL, SIXTH HOUSE:

ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:

Bronze is bright and shiny, but when it is rubbed, its blackness appears. Washing it, its impurity is not removed, even if it is washed a hundred times. || 1 || They alone are my friends, who travel along with me; and in that place, where the accounts are called for, they appear standing with me. || 1 || Pause || There are houses, mansions and tall buildings, painted on all sides; but they are empty within, and they crumble like useless ruins. || 2 || The herons in their white feathers dwell in the sacred shrines of pilgrimage. They tear apart and eat the living beings, and so they are not called white. || 3 || My body is like the simmal tree; seeing me, other people are fooled. Its fruits are useless — just like the qualities of my body. || 4 || The blind man is carrying such a heavy load, and his journey through the mountains is so long. My eyes can see, but I cannot find the Way. How can I climb up and cross over the mountain? || 5 || What good does it do to serve, and be good, and be clever? O Nanak, contemplate the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and you shall be released from bondage. || 6 || 1 || 3 ||

ਜਪਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਲਾਲੁ ॥ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਤੂ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਨ ਖਾਈ ਮਹਾ ਕਾਲੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਆਇਓ ॥ ਬਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥ ਬਾਬਾ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਆਖੈ ਏਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੨॥੧੧॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੋਬਿੰਦ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ, ਸੋਹਣੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ । ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ, (ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰੇਂਗਾ) ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹੇਗਾ । ਭਿਆਨਕ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ (ਤੇਰੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ) ਫਿਰ ਕਦੇ ਮੁਕਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕੇਗੀ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ) ਕੋ੍ਰੜਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕ ਕੇ (ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ) ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ, (ਤੇ, ਇਥੇ) ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ।੧।ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਨਕ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ-ਉਤਾਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ।੨।੧੧।

RAAMKALEE, FIFTH MEHL:

Meditate on the Lord of the Universe, the Beloved Lord of the World. Meditating in remembrance on the Lords Name, you shall live, and the Great Death shall not consume you ever again. || 1 || Pause || Through millions of incarnations, you have come, wandering, wandering, wandering. By the highest destiny, you found the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. Without the Perfect Guru, no one is saved. This is what Baba Nanak says, after deep reflection. || 2 || 11 ||

ਅਰਥ: ਜੋ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਗੋਪਾਲ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਦਿਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਦਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜ।੧।

ਭਾਵੇਂ ਚੰਦਨ (ਦਾ ਲੇਪ ਕੀਤਾ) ਹੋਵੇ ਚਾਹੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ (ਦੀ ਚਾਨਣੀ) ਹੋਵੇ, ਤੇ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਠੰਢੀ ਰੁੱਤ ਹੋਵੇ-ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਮਿਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਦਾ ਮਨ) ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।

:ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ (ਬੰਦਗੀ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਨਿਡਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਧਨ ਵਿਚ ਕਦੇ ਘਾਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ। ਅਜੇਹੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬੜੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਜਸ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ।੧੭।

SHALOK:

The Merciful Lord is the Savior of the Saints; their only support is to sing the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises. One becomes immaculate and pure, by associating with the Saints, O Nanak, and taking the Protection of the Transcendent Lord. || 1 || The burning of the heart is not dispelled at all, by sandalwood paste, the moon, or the cold season. It only becomes cool, O Nanak, by chanting the Name of the Lord. || 2 || PAUREE: Through the Protection and Support of the Lord’s lotus feet, all beings are saved. Hearing of the Glory of the Lord of the Universe, the mind becomes fearless. Nothing at all is lacking, when one gathers the wealth of the Naam. The Society of the Saints is obtained, by very good deeds. Twenty-four hours a day, meditate on the Lord, and listen continually to the Lord’s Praises. || 17 ||

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ) ਦਇਆ ਕਰ। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਅਕਲ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਂ (ਤੇਰੇ) ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਪਾਣੀ (ਢੋਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਪੱਖਾ (ਝੱਲਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਆਟਾ) ਪੀਂਹਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਤੇ, ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ! ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ। ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ (ਤੇਰਾ) ਨਾਮ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੇ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਵਾਂ ਜੋ ਸੁਖ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ।੧।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਮੇਰਾ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਏ, ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਮੇਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਮੈਂ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਵੇਖਾਂ, ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਨੰਦ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸੇਂ।੨।

ਹੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਖਸਮ! ਤੂੰ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੈਂ, ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਰਾਜ-ਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਲਏ ਹਨ।੩।

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹੀ ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਉਹੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹੀ ਜਾਣੋ, ਜੇਹੜੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਸੰਦ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਮਾਇਕ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਪੂਰੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।੧੦।

DHANAASAREE, FIFTH MEHL:

I carry the water, wave the fan, and grind the corn for the Saints; I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. With each and every breath, my mind remembers the Naam, the Name of the Lord; in this way, it finds the treasure of peace. || 1 || Have pity on me, O my Lord and Master. Bless me with such understanding, O my Lord and Master, that I may forever and ever meditate on You. || 1 || Pause || By Your Grace, emotional attachment and egotism are eradicated, and doubt is dispelled. The Lord, the embodiment of bliss, is pervading and permeating in all; wherever I go, there I see Him. || 2 || You are kind and compassionate, the treasure of mercy, the Purifier of sinners, Lord of the world. I obtain millions of joys, comforts and kingdoms, if You inspire me to chant Your Name with my mouth, even for an instant. || 3 || That alone is perfect chanting, meditation, penance and devotional worship service, which is pleasing to God’s Mind. Chanting the Naam, all thirst and desire is satisfied; Nanak is satisfied and fulfilled. || 4 || 10 ||
