ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੫ ॥ ਨਦੀ ਤਰੰਦੜੀ ਮੈਡਾ ਖੋਜੁ ਨ ਖੁੰਭੈ ਮੰਝਿ ਮੁਹਬਤਿ ਤੇਰੀ ॥ ਤਉ ਸਹ ਚਰਣੀ ਮੈਡਾ ਹੀਅੜਾ ਸੀਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੁਲਹਾ ਬੇੜੀ ॥੧॥ 

ਅਰਥ: (ਸੰਸਾਰ-) ਨਦੀ ਵਿਚ ਤਰਦੀ ਦਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੈਰ (ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਕੜ ਵਿਚ) ਨਹੀਂ ਖੁੱਭਦਾ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਪਤੀ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ! ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਇਹ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਦਿਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਤਰਨ ਲਈ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ) ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਤੁਲ੍ਹਾ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਬੇੜੀ ਹੈਂ।੧।

ਮਃ ੫ ॥ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਦਿਸੰਦੜਿਆ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਵੰਞੈ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਅਸਾਡੜੇ ਸੇਈ ॥ ਹਉ ਢੂਢੇਦੀ ਜਗੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕੇਈ ॥੨॥

ਅਰਥ: ਸਾਡੇ (ਅਸਲ) ਮਿੱਤਰ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਭੈੜੀ ਮੱਤ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਭਾਲ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲੇ (ਅਜੇਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ)।੨।

ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਆਵੈ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਤੇਰਿਆ ਭਗਤਾ ਡਿਠਿਆ ॥ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਕਟੀਐ ਮੈਲੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਵੁਠਿਆ ॥ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭਉ ਕਟੀਐ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਜਪਿ ॥ ਬੰਧਨ ਖੋਲਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਦੂਤ ਸਭਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਛਪਿ ॥ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਇਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਧਾਰੀਆ ॥ ਊਚੀ ਹੂੰ ਊਚਾ ਥਾਨੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੀਆ ॥ ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥ ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਤਾਂ ਭਗਤ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੯॥ 

ਅਰਥ: (ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੇਰੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਤੂੰ ਮਾਲਕ ਅਸਾਡੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਅੱਪੜਿਆਂ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਕੱਟੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਦਾ) ਡਰ ਕੱਟਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸੰਤ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੇ) ਬੰਧਨ ਖੋਲ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਰੂਪ) ਸਾਰੇ ਜਿੰਨ ਭੂਤ ਲੁਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ, ਸੰਤ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ (ਅਸਾਡਾ) ਪਿਆਰ ਜੋੜ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤਿ ਸੁਆਸ ਸੁਆਸ ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦਿਆਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ l9l

Salok  Fifth Mahalla 

My foot (in the mire of attachment) does not get lost in the (world-) river, because I have Thy love in my Hirda. O Husband (Lord)! I have placed my humble heart at your feet, O God! To swim across the world-ocean, Thou art Nanak's raft and boat.l1l

Our (real) friends are the same human beings whose evil wisdom is dispelled by sight, but, O servant Nanak! I have searched the whole world, some rare (such human beings are found).l2l

Pauree (O Lord!) Seeing Thy devotees, Thou Master comest abide in our mind, the filth of the mind is cut off when we enter the Sadh Sangat, , (All ages) fear is cut off, because all the jinn and ghosts are hidden by the Sant (the one whose Maya) bonds are untied (his perverted form).

This whole creation is the abode of the Lord, whose abode is the highest, which is inaccessible and infinite, the saints attach (our) love to that God.

(O brother!) Day and night one should meditate on the Lord with folded hands, when the Lord Himself is kind, the company of His devotees would be obtained.l9l

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਃ ੩ ਦੁਤੁਕੇ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਉਲਟੀ ਭਈ ਭਾਈ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਬੂਝ ਪਾਇ ॥ ਸੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਸੋ ਸਿਖੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਜਿਸੁ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਮਨ ਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਥਾਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਊਪਜੈ ਭਾਈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥ ਤੁਹ ਕੁਟਹਿ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਹਿ ਭਾਈ ਪਲੈ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਚੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਰਵੈ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਅਪਾਰਿ ॥੩॥ ਆਇਆ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਜਿ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮੇਲਾਇ ॥੪॥੮॥

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖ। ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ (ਥਾਂ) ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਪਰਤ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਕਾਰ-ਵਿਹਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਅਛੋਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਅਸਲ) ਸਿੱਖ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ) ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ) ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਜੋ ਭੀ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ) ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਤੁਹ ਹੀ ਕੁੱਟਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਹਾਸਲ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੁਹਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ) ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਅਤੁੱਟ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੩।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਣਾ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।੮।

SORAT’H, THIRD MEHL, DU-TUKAS:

Meeting the True Guru, one turns away from the world, O Siblings of Destiny; when he remains dead while yet alive, he obtains true understanding. He alone is the Guru, and he alone is a Sikh, O Siblings of Destiny, whose light merges in the Light. || 1 || O my mind, be lovingly attuned to the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. Chanting the Name of the Lord, it seems so sweet to the mind, O Siblings of Destiny; the Gurmukhs obtain a place in the Court of the Lord. || Pause || Without the Guru, love for the Lord does not well up, O Siblings of Destiny; the self-willed manmukhs are engrossed in the love of duality. Actions performed by the manmukh are like the threshing of the chaff — they obtain nothing for their efforts. || 2 || Meeting the Guru, the Naam comes to permeate the mind, O Siblings of Destiny, with true love and affection. He always sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny, with infinite love for the Guru. || 3 || How blessed and approved is his coming into the world, O Siblings of Destiny, who focuses his mind on serving the Guru. O Nanak, the Name of the Lord is obtained, O Siblings of Destiny, through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, and we merge with the Lord. || 4 || 8 |

 ਬਾਰਹ ਮਾਹਾ ਮਾਂਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੪ ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ਵੈਸਾਖਿ ਧੀਰਨਿ ਕਿਉ ਵਾਢੀਆ ਜਿਨਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਿਛੋਹੁ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਕੈ ਲਗੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਧੋਹੁ ॥ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਧਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਅਵਿਨਾਸੀ ਓਹੁ ॥ ਪਲਚਿ ਪਲਚਿ ਸਗਲੀ ਮੁਈ ਝੂਠੈ ਧੰਧੈ ਮੋਹੁ ॥ ਇਕਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਗੈ ਲਈਅਹਿ ਖੋਹਿ ॥ ਦਯੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਵਿਗੁਚਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਚਰਣੀ ਜੋ ਲਗੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ ਵੈਸਾਖੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਤਾਂ ਲਗੈ ਜਾ ਸੰਤੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥ 

ਅਰਥ: (ਵੈਸਾਖੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਦਿਨ ਹਰੇਕ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਮਰਦ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਰੀਝਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਦਿਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ) ਵੈਸਾਖ ਵਿਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਦਿਲ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਖਲੋਵੇ ਜੋ ਪਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਵਿੱਛੁੜੀਆਂ ਪਈਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਿਆਰ (ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵੇ) ਦੀ ਅਣਹੋਂਦ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਧੀਰਜ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਆਵੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ) ਸੱਜਣ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਕੇ ਮਨ-ਮੋਹਣੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਚੰਬੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ?

ਨਾਹ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ, ਨਾਹ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ, ਨਾਹ ਧਨ, ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਨਿਭਦਾ ਇਕ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਸਾਥੀ ਹੈ। ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਧੰਧੇ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ (ਸਾਰੀ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ) ਵਿਆਪ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਹੀ (ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤੇ) ਮਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਭੀ ਕਰਮ ਇਥੇ ਕਰੀਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਖੋਹ ਲਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਹ ਉੱਚੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਅੰਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣ ਸਕਦੇ) ।

ਪਿਆਰ-ਸਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਆਰੀ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਥੀ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਲਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਭਲੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਮੇਰੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ-ਰੱਜਵਾਂ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਨਸੀਬ ਹੋਵੇ। (ਰੁੱਤ ਫਿਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਚੁਫੇਰੇ ਬਨਸਪਤੀ ਪਈ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਪਰ) ਜਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਵੈਸਾਖ ਦਾ ਮਹੀਨਾ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਹਰੀ ਸੰਤ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ।3।

BAARAH MAAHAA ~ THE TWELVE MONTHS: MAAJH, FIFTH MEHL, FOURTH HOUSE:

ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:

In the month of Vaisaakh, how can the bride be patient? She is separated from her Beloved. She has forgotten the Lord, her Life-companion, her Master; she has become attached to Maya, the deceitful one. Neither son, nor spouse, nor wealth shall go along with you—only the Eternal Lord. Entangled and enmeshed in the love of false occupations, the whole world is perishing. Without the Naam, the Name of the One Lord, they lose their lives in the hereafter. Forgetting the Merciful Lord, they are ruined. Without God, there is no other at all. Pure is the reputation of those who are attached to the Feet of the Beloved Lord. Nanak makes this prayer to God: “Please, come and unite me with Yourself.” The month of Vaisaakh is beautiful and pleasant, when the Saint causes me to meet the Lord. || 3 ||

 ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ਘਰੁ ੭    ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਵਨ ਕਵਨ ਗੁਣ ਕਹਿ ਕਹਿ ਗਾਵਾ ਤੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਤੂੰ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਊਚ ਭਗਵਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਰ ਸੋਈ ॥ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮੈ ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਮੈ ਤਾਣੁ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ਤੂਹੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਗੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥ ਮੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਥਾਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਪਹਿ ਕਰਉ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੨॥ ਵਿਚੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਕਾਸਟ ਅਗਨਿ ਧਰੀਜੈ ॥ ਬਕਰੀ ਸਿੰਘੁ ਇਕਤੈ ਥਾਇ ਰਾਖੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਦੂਰਿ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੩॥ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਮਾਣਿਆ ਮਾਣੁ ਦੇਵਾਏ ॥ ਜਿਉ ਧਰਤੀ ਚਰਣ ਤਲੇ ਤੇ ਊਪਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਜਗਤੁ ਆਣਿ ਸਭੁ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੨॥

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਉਹ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ। ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ (ਸਹਾਰਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੇਹੜੇ ਕੇਹੜੇ ਗੁਣ ਦੱਸ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ? ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।੧।

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਬਲ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈਂ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਹੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ, ਜਿਸ ਕੋਲ ਮੈਂ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਸੁਖ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੀ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੨।

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਵੇਖ, (ਪਾਣੀ ਦੇ) ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਹੈ, (ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ) ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਹੈ, ਲੱਕੜ ਵਿਚ ਅੱਗ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, (ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਸ਼ੇਰ ਤੇ ਬੱਕਰੀ ਇਕੋ ਥਾਂ ਰੱਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਡਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ? ਅਜੇਹੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਵਾਲੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਡਰ ਭਰਮ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਕਰ।੩।

ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਵੇਖੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਤਾਕਤ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ ਦਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਕਰਦਾ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਧਰਤੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਪੈਰਾਂ ਹੇਠੋਂ (ਮੌਤ ਆਉਣ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਉੱਪਰ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।੧।੧੨।

ਨੋਟ: 'ਘਰੁ ੭' ਦੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੈ।

Which, which of Your Glorious Virtues should I sing and recount, Lord? You are my Lord and Master, the treasure of excellence. I cannot express Your Glorious Praises. You are my Lord and Master, lofty and benevolent. || 1 || The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is my only support. If it pleases You, please save me, O my Lord and Master; without You, I have no other at all. || 1 || Pause || You alone are my strength, and my Court, O my Lord and Master; unto You alone I pray. There is no other place where I can offer my prayers; I can tell my pains and pleasures only to You. || 2 || Water is locked up in the earth, and fire is locked up in wood. The sheep and the lions are kept in one place; O mortal, meditate on the Lord, and your doubts and fears shall be removed. || 3 || So behold the glorious greatness of the Lord, O Saints; the Lord blesses the dishonored with honor. As dust rises from underfoot, O Nanak, so does the Lord make all people fall at the feet of the Holy. || 4 || 1 || 12 ||

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੪ ॥ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਜੀਅ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨਾ ਜੇਤੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਠਵਰ ਨ ਪਾਵਹੀ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਫਿਕਾ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਮੁਹਿ ਕਾਲੈ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥  ਅਰਥ: ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਹੋਈ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਕੰਮ ਜੀਵ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਬੰਧਨ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਹ ਕਰਮ ਹੋਰ ਵਧੀਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਆਸਰਾ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ (ਤੇ ਇਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਮਰਦੇ ਤੇ ਜੰਮਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਹੋਈ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਫਿੱਕੇ ਬੋਲ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ; (ਇਸ ਦਾ ਨਤੀਜਾ ਇਹ ਨਿਕਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੀਵ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਜਮਪੁਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਬੱਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ (ਤੁਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ) ਜੱਗ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਾਲਖ ਖੱਟ ਕੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੧। ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਇਕਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਵਾਰਨਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੁਲ ਕਾ ਕਰਨਿ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ ਅਰਥ: ਕਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਹੋਈ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਸਵਾਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਕੁਲ ਭੀ ਤਾਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੨। ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਆਪੇ ਚਾਟਸਾਲ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਪਾਧਾ ਆਪੇ ਚਾਟੜੇ ਪੜਣ ਕਉ ਆਣੇ ॥ ਆਪੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਾਤਾ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਕਰੇ ਸਿਆਣੇ ॥ ਇਕ ਥੈ ਪੜਿ ਬੁਝੈ ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਇਕ ਥੈ ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਇਆਣੇ ॥ ਇਕਨਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਮਹਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਏ ਜਾ ਆਪਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਸਚੇ ਭਾਣੇ ॥ ਜਿਨਾ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸਚੀ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਜਾਣੇ ॥੧੧॥  ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪਾਠਸ਼ਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਸਤਾਦ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਾਲਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ; ਇਕ ਥਾਂ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਇਕ ਥਾਂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਾਲਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੰਞਾਣੇ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਹਰੀ! ਜਦੋਂ ਆਪ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਇਕਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਵਿਚ ਧੁਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਆਦਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹ ਸੱਚੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੧੧। SHALOK, FOURTH MEHL:

Without serving the True Guru, the deeds which are done are only chains binding the soul. Without serving the True Guru, they find no place of rest. They die, only to be born again — they continue coming and going. Without serving the True Guru, their speech is insipid. They do not enshrine the Naam, the Name of the Lord, in the mind. O Nanak, without serving the True Guru, they are bound and gagged, and beaten in the City of Death; they depart with blackened faces. || 1 || THIRD MEHL: Some wait upon and serve the True Guru; they embrace love for the Lord’s Name. O Nanak, they reform their lives, and save their generations as well. || 2 || PAUREE: He Himself is the school, He Himself is the teacher, and He Himself brings the students to be taught. He Himself is the father, He Himself is the mother, and He Himself makes the children wise. In one place, He teaches them to read and understand everything, while in another place, He Himself makes them ignorant. Some, You summon to the Mansion of Your Presence within, when they become pleasing to Your Mind, O True Lord. That Gurmukh, whom You have blessed with greatness — that humble being is known and respected in Your True Court. || 11 ||

The daily Hukamnama sahib from Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar including Punjabi and English translation audio ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਮੁਹ ਫਿਰੇ ਸੇ ਬਧੇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਾਹਿ ॥ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਿਲਣੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਨੀ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਤੈ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ ਸਹਸਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਛੋਡਈ ਦੁਖ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਹਿ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਬਖਸਿ ਲੇਹਿ ਸਬਦੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਅਰਥ: ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਲੋਂ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹਨ, ਉਹ (ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ) ਬੱਧੇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਦੇ ਤੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ; ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਦਾ, ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ-ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਲਏ ਤਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੧। ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮੁਹ ਫਿਰੇ ਤਿਨਾ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਠਾਉ ॥ ਜਿਉ ਛੁਟੜਿ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਫਿਰੈ ਦੁਹਚਾਰਣਿ ਬਦਨਾਉ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬਖਸੀਅਹਿ ਸੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਉ ॥੨॥ ਅਰਥ: ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਹ ਥਾਂ ਨਾਹ ਥਿੱਤਾ; ਉਹ ਵਿਭ-ਚਾਰਨ ਛੁੱਟੜ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਘਰ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਬਦਨਾਮ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੨। ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਜੋ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਤਿ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ਸੇ ਭਵਜਲ ਤਰਿ ਗਇਆ ॥ ਜੋ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ਤਿਨ ਜਮੁ ਛਡਿ ਗਇਆ ॥ ਸੇ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਧੇ ਜਾਹਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਲਇਆ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇਈ ਪੁਰਖ ਜਿਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਮਇਆ ॥ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਿਤ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭਉ ਗਇਆ ॥੭॥  ਅਰਥ: ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੱਚੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੇਂਵਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਮ ਛੱਡ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ; ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਸਨਮਾਨੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ; (ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਭਰਮ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾਂ।੭।  SHALOK THIRD MEHL:  Those who turn their faces away from the True Guru, suffer in sorrow and bondage. Again and again, they are born only to die; they cannot meet their Lord. The disease of doubt does not depart, and they find only pain and more pain. O Nanak, if the Gracious Lord forgives, then one is united in Union with the Word of the Shabad. || 1 || THIRD MEHL: Those who turn their faces away from the True Guru, shall find no place of rest or shelter. They wander around from door to door, like a woman forsaken, with a bad character and a bad reputation. O Nanak, the Gurmukhs are forgiven, and united in Union with the True Guru. || 2 || PAUREE: Those who serve the True Lord, the Destroyer of ego, cross over the terrifying world-ocean. Those who chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, are passed over by the Messenger of Death. Those who meditate on the Lord, go to His Court in robes of honor. They alone serve You, O Lord, whom You bless with Grace.  ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ਅਸਟਪਦੀਆ ਘਰੁ ੧੧    ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ਆਪੈ ਆਪੁ ਖਾਇ ਹਉ ਮੇਟੈ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਗੀਤ ਗਵਈਆ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਚੈ ਕੰਚਨ ਕਾਇਆ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਈਆ ॥੧॥ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਰਮਈਆ ॥ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਠ ਪੜਈਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਏਕੁ ਗਿਰਹੁ ਦਸ ਦੁਆਰ ਹੈ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਤਸਕਰ ਪੰਚ ਚੋਰ ਲਗਈਆ ॥ ਧਰਮੁ ਅਰਥੁ ਸਭੁ ਹਿਰਿ ਲੇ ਜਾਵਹਿ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਖਬਰਿ ਨ ਪਈਆ ॥੨॥

ਕੰਚਨ ਕੋਟੁ ਬਹੁ ਮਾਣਕਿ ਭਰਿਆ ਜਾਗੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਤਤਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਈਆ ॥ ਤਸਕਰ ਹੇਰੂ ਆਇ ਲੁਕਾਨੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਕੜਿ ਬੰਧਿ ਪਈਆ ॥੩॥ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪੋਤੁ ਬੋਹਿਥਾ ਖੇਵਟੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਈਆ ॥ ਜਮੁ ਜਾਗਾਤੀ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਤਸਕਰੁ ਚੋਰੁ ਲਗਈਆ ॥੪॥

ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਸਦਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਕਹਤੇ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਲਹੀਆ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਨੂਆ ਇਕਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਮਿਲਉ ਗਪਾਲ ਨੀਸਾਨੁ ਬਜਈਆ ॥੫॥ ਨੈਨੀ ਦੇਖਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੈ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਈਆ ॥ ਸੁਨਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਆਤਮ ਦੇਵ ਹੈ ਭੀਨੇ ਰਸਿ ਰਸਿ ਰਾਮ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਰਵਈਆ ॥੬॥

ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਤੁਰੀਆ ਗੁਣੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਹੀਆ ॥ ਏਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਵੈ ਸਭੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਸਰਈਆ ॥੭॥ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਬਾਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੇ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਈਆ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਈਆ ॥੮॥੧॥੪॥

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੋਹਣੇ ਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਮੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ) ਆਸਰਾ (ਬਣ ਗਿਆ) ਹੈ, (ਹੁਣ) ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਇਕ ਪਲ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ) ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਪਾਠ (ਹੀ) ਪੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਰਸ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਆਪੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਲੀਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਮਿਟਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰਕੇ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਸੋਨੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਸੁੱਧ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ) ਇਕ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਸ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਹਨ, (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ (ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ) ਪੰਜ ਚੋਰ ਸੰਨ੍ਹ ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਇਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਧਨ ਚੁਰਾ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ) ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋ ਚੁਕੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਮੁਰੀਦ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਲੁੱਟੇ ਜਾਣ ਦਾ) ਪਤਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਸਰੀਰ, ਮਾਨੋ,) ਸੋਨੇ ਦਾ ਕਿਲ੍ਹਾ (ਉੱਚੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ) ਮੋਤੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਹੀਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਰਾਣ ਲਈ ਲੁੱਟਣ ਲਈ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਚੋਰ ਡਾਕੂ ਆ ਕੇ (ਇਸ ਵਿਚ) ਲੁਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਸੋਮੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਚੋਰਾਂ ਡਾਕੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਫੜ ਕੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੩।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ ਜਹਾਜ਼, (ਉਸ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਦਾ) ਮਲਾਹ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੈ, (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ-ਭਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਮਰਾਜ-ਮਸੂਲੀਆ (ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ, (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਕੋਈ ਚੋਰ ਭੀ ਸੰਨ੍ਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਾ ਸਕਦਾ।੪।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਹੁਣ) ਸਦਾ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ (ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਦਾ) ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਮੇਰਾ ਇਹ) ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਲੋਕ-ਲਾਜ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ-ਪਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੫।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਮੇਰਾ) ਮਨ (ਹੋਰ ਵਾਸਨਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਮੇਰਾ) ਕੰਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ (ਹੀ) ਸੁਣਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ) ਸੁਣ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ (ਮੇਰੀ) ਜਿੰਦ (ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਵਿਚ) ਭਿੱਜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਮੈਂ) ਬੜੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਮ-ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੬।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਸਰ ਹੇਠ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੀਵ (ਸਦਾ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਉਹ) ਚੌਥਾ ਪਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਥੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ) । (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਇਕ (ਪਿਆਰ-) ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੀ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ) ਦਿੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿ) ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।੭।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਹ) ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਲੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ) ਹੈ, ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੀ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭਗਤੀ-ਭਾਵਨਾ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।੮।੧।

ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:

One who eliminates his self-centeredness, and eradicates his ego, night and day sings the songs of the Lord’s Love. The Gurmukh is inspired, his body is golden, and his light merges into the Light of the Fearless Lord. || 1 || I take the Support of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. I cannot live, for a moment, even for an instant, without the Name of the Lord; the Gurmukh reads the Sermon of the Lord, Har, Har. || 1 || Pause || In the one house of the body, there are ten gates; night and day, the five thieves break in. They steal the entire wealth of one’s Dharmic faith, but the blind, self-willed manmukh does not know it. || 2 || The fortress of the body is overflowing with gold and jewels; when it is awakened by spiritual wisdom, one enshrines love for the essence of reality. The thieves and robbers hide out in the body; through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, they are arrested and locked up. || 3 || The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is the boat, and the Word of the Guru’s Shabad is the boatman, to carry us across. The Messenger of Death, the tax collector, does not even come close, and no thieves or robbers can plunder you. || 4 || I continuously sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, day and night; singing the Lord’s Praises, I cannot find His limits. The mind of the Gurmukh returns to its own home; it meets the Lord of the Universe, to the beat of the celestial drum. || 5 || Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan with my eyes, my mind is satisfied; with my ears, I listen to the Guru’s Bani, and the Word of His Shabad. Listening, listening, my soul is softened, delighted by His subtle essence, chanting the Name of the Lord of the Universe. || 6 || In the grip of the three qualities, they are engrossed in love and attachment to Maya; only as Gurmukh do they find the absolute quality, absorption in bliss. With a single, impartial eye, look upon all alike, and see God pervading all. || 7 || The Light of the Lord’s Name permeates all; the Gurmukh knows the unknowable. O Nanak, the Lord has become merciful to the meek; through loving adoration, he merges in the Lord’s Name. || 8 || 1 || 4 ||
